Jimmy Davis - Like Simeon and Anna, we can become, by the power of the Spirit, Good News receivers who then turn to be Good News givers to our neighbors, the nations, and the next generation.

Jimmy Davis - Have you ever felt overlooked or outcast? The shepherds were welcomed into Jesus' story and so are you. In Luke 2 we receive the good news of great joy that the Good Shepherd became the Lamb who takes away our sin and shame by taking them on Himself.

Jimmy Davis - Does having God’s favor in my life mean that everything’s going to go my way? Not exactly. Ask Mary and Joseph! Everything will go God’s way, but that’s the way we need things to go so that Christ is formed in us for God’s glory, the world’s good, and our ultimate gladness.

Jimmy Davis - As we contemplate John’s vision of the new heaven and new earth in Revelation 21 and 22, our longing for the Perfected Kingdom is stirred. Romans 8 then helps us to consider what it might look like to long for the ’not yet’ as we live in the ‘already’ of what Jesus has done for His people.

Jimmy Davis - Who are we as a church? Why are we here? In Acts 17 and 1 Thessalonians 1 we learn that Jesus gave the Holy Spirit to the church so that we might Proclaim and Practice Jesus as King until He comes again.

Jimmy Davis - All of the pictures, promises, and prophecies of the Kingdom of God in the Old Testament finally come to full flower with the presence of Jesus the King. He is the chosen and beloved Christ of God . . . listen to Him!

Although Adam and Eve have rebelled, and sin has corrupted everyone and everything, God promises Abraham that He will redeem a people for Himself who will dwell in His place, live under His rule, and enjoy His blessing. We are called to live by faith in that promise even today.

In their rebellion Adam and Eve have ruined their relationships with God, people, and creation. Jimmy Davis - In Genesis 1 and 2 we discover that the Pattern of the Kingdom is “God’s people in God’s place under God’s rule and enjoying His blessing." We will follow this pattern of the Kingdom of God through the rest of the Bible in the weeks to come!
