After studying through Matthew 23 and 24 I have come to a different view on the fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy in Daniel 9:24-27. This lesson begins to unpack what I believe to be the proper way to understand the 70 weeks.

If the Roman armies are what makes desolate the city of Jerusalem, why are they called the *abomination* of desolation?

People speculate on what the abomination of desolation is going to be, but Yeshua actually tells us what it would be, in his future, but is now in our past. Listen to learn about this abomination and how it is connected with the great tribulation.

Yeshua gives an approximate sign of the end here in his Olivet Discourse. Do we yet await the fulfillment of this sign, or did this sign take place before the generation alive at that time passed away?

What is love? How has Yahweh loved us? Why is it that Christians feel love towards one another? These questions and more are answered, from the Bible, in this lesson about Yahweh loves for us and our love for each other.

It is possible to come to the Messiah for the wrong reason. How do we know if we are coming to Him for the right reason? The bread we must eat is not found in any loaf, it is the bread the Father sends, from heaven.

If anyone thinks they have a list of accomplishments to boast about, Paul had a bigger and greater list. Yet, once coming to the knowledge of Yeshua, what was once in his profit column, was now in his loss column. He realized his righteousness was based upon faith in Messiah.

A sermon about a man who deserved to die, but who accepted Yeshua as the perfect Savior, and received eternal life. The reality is, we are all this man.

Paul opens this letter as an apostle of Yeshua the Messiah, and that's all the backing he needs. He pronounces grace and peace upon the faithful saints, and what a greeting this is.

Another sign the disciples would experience was that they would be brought before high authorities and persecuted for their faith in Messiah. The book of Acts records the fulfillment of what Yeshua prophesied concerning this, during the Olivet Discourse.

After the disciples ask their teacher the 3-fold question (Mt24:3), Yeshua replies to them with signs to look for. These signs though are regulated by a particular time reference Yeshua has already given, and will give again during the Olivet Discourse.

We think less of Yahweh's methods of getting things done, and more of our own methods. This is true in all areas of life. This lesson encourages us to quite trying to figure out something on our own and just trust in Yahweh with all of our heart.

Some key verses and teachings through the epistle are touched upon, and then we read the entire book as a congregation.

I briefly move away from Matthew 24 to discuss a pertinent point in relation to Yeshua's judgment upon Jerusalem and the Temple. Yeshua wants His people to move their focus off of the Temple; it had become corrupt. He wants their focus to be on something greater than the Temple.

Yeshua's statements about the temple's desolation (Matthew 23:38; 24:2) prompted the disciples to ask him some questions privately. Were the questions unrelated? Did the disciples ask about things in which there were gaps of hundreds or thousands of years? After scathing the scribes and Pharisees in his day, and pronouncing that their house would be left desolate, Yeshua exits the temple complex. His disciples realize the implications of his words and call his attention to the greatness of the temple. Yeshua's answer sets us up for the remainder of his prophetic discourse in Matthew 24.

For the most part, people do not realize that false predictions of the end of the world have been plentiful ever since Christ went to heaven. We hear someone say, "the end is near," but we don't realize someone said the same thing in the 1900's, 1800's, and 1700's. How are we to handle this? As we come to close this chapter in Matthew's gospel, we learn of Yeshua's tenderness to the repentant, but we also learn of his harshness upon the unrepentant. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not. Thus, the house that was once Yahweh's is not called their house, and it is left solitary and waste.

All the righteous blood shed upon the earth would be charged to the scribes and Pharisees of Yeshua's generation. Why? This lesson contains pertinent information about the phrase "this generation" that is necessary to understand before moving into Matthew 24.

In this text, Yeshua says that he sends prophets to the scribes and Pharisees. I thought it was Yahweh who sent the prophets? Listen to learn what Yeshua means and how this thread runs through the entire New Testament.

The actions of the scribes and Pharisees were a self-incriminating testimony. They were sons of their fathers, and would fill up the measure of their fathers sins. How would they do this?

The Pharisees claimed they were not like their fathers. Their fathers murdered the prophets. Who were their fathers? The answer to this question is easy, if we allow the Bible to interpret the Bible. This begins the last of 8 woes upon the scribes and Pharisees of Yeshua's day.

The Pharisees were so focused on the small things that they neglected the big things. So focused on washing the outside of the cup that they forgot to make sure the inside was washed. We are pros at making ourselves look good, but looking good is not what matters. We need to be changed from the inside, out.

Yeshua begins to pronounce the woes of a prophet upon the scribes and Pharisees. He does not ease up on them, but calls them hypocrites, blind guides, and fools. Why such harshness?

Holiness is not outward show. Outward show can be performed without there ever being a inward change of heart. Our good deeds should flow from the inside out, but we should always give ALL of the glory to our heavenly Father that enables us.
