From May 8, 2025: Starting to crib together an ep-133, moog, thuja and ensoniq esq-1 setup for more live jamming/sequencing. The ep's sequencer rules, and I'm having such a blast just setting sequences up with the Moog. And summer seems to be starting earlier. Link to the post.

From April 4, 2025: This apple tree is more than 50 years old and still truckin. Finally getting some tlc after years of being consumed by neighboring plants. A real zen afternoon, with NO crows, who were conspicuous in their absense - I'm so used to hearing them in Ballard. I had to add some to this little EP-133 jam. Link to the post.

From August 9, 2024: The only thing I really spent time with this Olympics was the breakdancing. To live to see something come from the Bronx in new segments and early MTV videos to seeing my first breakin live when I was 10 (1982) at Seattle Center to seeing Beat Street the day it came out in some Edmonds multiplex (probably Lynn Four or the Alderwood Mall) to THIS. Threaded through so many cultu...

From September 10, 2024: The Cicadas on Korčula are lodged in the ear of anyone who's visted the mediterranean. I found this recording of a the ID chimes of the Shortwave service of Radio Ukraine I recorded back in 2006. Link to the post.

From June 21, 2024: I already love blowing stuff around with an electric blower. I didn't know they made ones that could play tunes. This guy has to know the music he's making. Link to the post.

From March 6, 2024: A little audio verité from Jason's place, layering guitars and more guitars. These zippy slidey lines are so fun to play - I'm glad I can fall into the pocket eventually. Here's me stumbling through making this up while Jace tweezes the sounds. Link to the post.

From August 10, 2024: Set my recorder out to catch some coyotes, but caught this distant singing. Something coming out of someone's distant system as the party's winding down (this was around 1am last night) or something more ritualistic? Hearing it from a distance, along side wind and chirping insects adds its own filter that no machine can duplicate. I strip all the noise down and boost...

From June 20, 2024: This is the soundscape I always associate with Maui. Doves having a conversation at 5AM. We never veer off Seattle time, so the dawn chorus greets us every morning, first invading dreams then waking to realize you are in this beautiful place. Link to the post.

From June 14, 2024: Racoons chatting it up in Matt and Jean's backyard last night. We had a racoon family move in to our eave space last year - I tagged their cute speech on at the end. Another Ballard memory. It was a weird thing: where our default is to set traps to kill rats, there was no way to really rid our space of the racoon family without separating mom and babies, and wait for the ba...

From August 11, 2024: Owls last night having a call-and-response - one on an E, one on a G#, pretty well in tune! Pictured is nice notation for whale song we saw at the preview of the new aquarium exhibit today. Link to the post.

From December 4, 2024: So many nights at the space - I am here for the first time in months. How many nights have I been here, doing something quiet with loud next door, or doing something loud to kill the quiet concentration of my neighbor? I'm so grateful for this space. Link to the post.

Caudal Peduncle show tonight at the Belltown Yacht Club. Awesome awesome times. I did some DJing on the ep-133 with these sounds - wish I had a recording from the show. Mike and Diana look epic in their outfits. Looks my arms are Diana's extra arms. Link to the post.

Intro to this one from 2006, an early demo from C'mon C'mon, very influenced by Gerry Rafferty. "Hot chicks, is riyeet". Link to the post.

Reminder to self that this move of playing along with a single Thuja guitar track, leaving lots of space, always yields nice results. Link to the post.

This thing needs lyrics, but it's the beginning of something I'll spruce up in the next couple of weeks. I like the guitar parts that sound like horns. "The eagle and the hawk" is the working title. Link to the post.
