Jeff and Andy's birthdays, and they're big ones: 50 and 80. We've been in Medocine and Boonville for Andy's, coming home for Jeff's. These distant harmonies coming across the shortwave from Mexico get me everytime. This 3-eyed bear staring at me from a beverage ad weirded me out. Link to the post.

There's no foghorn in Mendocino anymore, but there is this low pulse you can hear from a buoy offshore. Just a small atmosphere here, based off a sample of that buoy. In a fit of synchronicity, my waterbottle struck the same pitch when I knocked on it! This is the universe talking to me. Pictured is a hive in the forest by the Mendocino Grove glamp-ground. A bunch of textures on this tape - Tape 15. I started this audio journal approach with the 4 track, where I'd just number and date tapes, and let the sounds flow. Link to the post.

A lot of pieces like this where I abused varispeed to get to a tempo I couldn't quite reach. It's fun to pull these out, align them on a grid in Ableton, and lay the drums I remember WISHING I had the ability to program and line up on tape. Link to the post.

1995 4 tracking again, and again I have no recollection of where/why for this one. My friend Craig perma-loaned me a full size keyboard with a bunch of preset sounds and rhythm patterns, and occasionally I hear it's drum machine creep in. Link to the post.

I have no recollection of where/why for this one, but I have this sanitized memory of my 20s sounding like this: endless afternoons of noodly overdubbing guitars, working my way intuitively towards something that works.
