DOUBLE THE PLEASURE 18.07.2022 1:29
The double orange lilies are beginning to bloom, and I am reminded of all the acts of kindness done for others that serve to give us pleasure as well as the recipient of the act. It is a great feeling. Support the show
THE EVENING SUN SHINING THROUGH THE GRASS 17.07.2022 1:27
THE EVENING SUN SHINING THROUGH THE GRASS – We sat on a bench at the top of the Lupine Field watching the setting sunshine through the tall grass. The scene sparkled as the grass danced in the breeze. We found ourselves absorbed in Nature. Support the show
SEAT OF THE DAY 16.07.2022 1:40
I am so grateful to have many different seats in Nature where I can pause, rest my body and my thoughts for a few moments and take in the splendor that surrounds me. The other day it was a view of the orchard and mountains beyond. We all have places to pause and reflect. Support the show
USING YANKEE INGENUITY TO CREATE A STONE SCOOT 15.07.2022 2:06
Looking for the best way to move our “stone mountain”, I thought of the settlers and how they cleared the land by making sleds called scoots to be pulled by oxen or horses. We used plastic sleds to solve the problem. Support the show
DEER TO MY HEART 14.07.2022 1:55
The other day we received a special package in the mail from a friend that loves to visit the land. She had been working on a cross-stitch deer for over a year, and the timing was perfect. It was another sign that I am not alone on my soul’s path. I am grateful. Support the show
A MOUNTAIN TO MOVE 13.07.2022 1:45
The big truckload of stone we recently had delivered looks like a mountain as it waits to line our driveway. I am reminded of a distant relative, Edgar Welch, who literally moved a mountain, working nights, year after year. Persistence is the key. Support the show
A VERY SPECIAL ROSE 12.07.2022 2:08
In the spring of 1993 we had some drainage work done by the local high school vocational department. The next spring my wife’s father passed and that summer a wild rose sprang up where the work was done. It still blooms each year. It is a special rose for a special person. Support the show
RED DAY LILIES 11.07.2022 1:38
I now have red day lilies flowering at the Center. Each different color is special and each bloom lasts for a day. It reminds me of the power of the moment and how, when we not aware of that, we miss a lot in life, whether flowers or special moments with people. Support the show
BEAUTIFUL BROWN EYES 10.07.2022 1:13
Eyes are full of stories, some happy and some sad. I learn a lot about people by watching their eyes. There are also beautiful eyes in Nature, including brown eyed susans. When you open your mind, you can hear their stories also. Life is full of stories. Support the show
SEVEN YEAR WAIT 09.07.2022 2:09
Seven years ago we transplanted a dozen hydrangea bushes to the Center from another place where they were in the way of progress. It took some time for the plants to begin to mature. The waiting is over. Sometimes positive acts take time to mature and flower. Support the show
STEPPING THROUGH THE OPENING 08.07.2022 2:04
At the top of Kyle’s trail, you can step out into the wide open scenic vista at the top of the Lupine Field. I am reminded that each of us has the ability to step through an opening and into their unconscious mind to tap into something beyond. Support the show
ENJOYING THE LUPINES ALL YEAR ROUND 07.07.2022 1:50
Thanks to the acquisitions of two special landscapes painted by Mary Bastoni, we are now able to enjoy the lupines all year round. Paintings or photos are wonderful ways to refresh one’s memory of Nature’s healing beauty. Support the show
MILKWEED 06.07.2022 1:42
The milkweed is blooming in the Orchard and Lupine Field. The small flowers develop in a round cluster providing space for butterflies to land and bees to collect the nectar. In the fall the seed pods will release their seeds on the wind, just as people seed positive acts. Support the show
SALT AIR AND ROSES 05.07.2022 1:37
There is something about the moist salt air of the ocean that provides just the right environment for roses to flourish with a beauty hard to achieve inland. People can be affected by the right environment, internally and externally, that brings out their abilities. Support the show
UNFURLED 04.07.2022 1:13
The American flag unfurled and flying free is a beautiful symbol of the freedoms we currently enjoy in this country, and today we celebrate all those that came before us with infinite wisdom who created the fabric through which the flag continues to fly. Support the show
SETTING SAIL 03.07.2022 2:09
We paused from our walk on the edge of the harbor to watch a large boat under sail. It traveled across the bay and eventually dropped its sails close to where we were. It reminded me of how people set sail every day on the waters of life. Support the show
BEACONS OF LIGHT 02.07.2022 1:44
We love to visit and photograph lighthouses, as we recently did on the coast of Maine. The Bass Harbor Light is a unique one tucked away above the ocean with a stunning view. Some people are like lighthouses who shine their spiritual lights to help others. Support the show
THE FIRST ORANGE LILIES OF THE SUMMER 01.07.2022 1:38
I have been waiting for the first of the orange day lilies to open and now they have. I often use Nature as a way of keeping track of the seasons. There is always something new to discover all year long as we walk the path of our soul. Support the show
CROWN VETCH AND CLOVER 30.06.2022 1:28
One of my favorite walking meditations is through Nature’s beautiful wild floral arrangements like the crown vetch blooming in the middle of pink clover. There are also many beautiful arrangements in our lives that appear along the path of our soul. Support the show
FINDING YOUR BALANCE 29.06.2022 1:57
There is a glacial erratic known as the Balance Rock on the shoreline of Bar Harbor ME that was deposited by the last Ice Age. I am reminded that it is our belief which gives us balance when life seems to be on a precarious perch. Support the show
NEW ADDITIONS FOR THE FAIRY COMPLEX 28.06.2022 1:39
The Fairy complex nestled around an old stump on the edge of the Lupine Field has recently received some new additions. I’m not sure who keeps an eye on the fairies, but I am so grateful that others recognize the magic there. Support the show
DAISIES 27.06.2022 1:00
When I see wild bouquets of daises shining brightly in the Lupine Field, I am reminded of the song “A Daisy a Day”. My heart sings along with their beautiful dance in the summer breeze. There are so many flowers to be grateful for this time of year. Support the show
SUMMER VIEWS 26.06.2022 1:27
Now that summer has finally arrived, the ever-changing views from the mountain are always delightful. I believe that each of us has special places to visit to regroup, whether in person, from our memories or from our imaginations. Support the show
PRECARIOUS POSITON 25.06.2022 1:21
There is a big dead pine on the side of one of our new trails created by last fall’s logging; it is missing about half of its trunk. It is perched in a very precarious position, ready to fall at any time. I am reminded that we all face many precarious positions in life. Support the show
FRESH HERBS 24.06.2022 1:16
We have some perennial herbs growing in the flower garden by the Cabin that were planted before we took ownership. Maybe this year we will harvest some. There is nothing like fresh herbs to enhance a meal. There are a lot of things that can enhance our lives. Support the show
