Message from the Mountain

The land at the Center is designated as a wildlife safety zone, and I wonder if the male turkeys that grub on our lawn realize that. In my mind, when people come together in a positive and peaceful manner to discuss differences in opinions, it is a safe zone, free from prejudices. Support the show

The wind blew down a lot of dead and weak trees and limbs this past week, so we cut up the debris and lined the sides of the paths with them. In life we have many things, from physical to mental, that can be repurposed as we change and grow. Support the show

Years ago I learned that if I stopped to rest when climbing a mountain, it was hard to start again, so I just went one step at a time until I reached the summit. Sometimes in life the big goal seems insurmountable. One little goal at a time helps us reach the big one. Support the show

Now that the foliage is passing its peak, the leaves are falling from the trees and covering the ground. It is a “crunchy” time of year. October weather has many different moods. In life, our positive hearts can help us navigate through all the changes as we crunch the leaves. Support the show

My son loves to visit the Mountain to experience a moment of Zen, and then he often posts a photo of the view. To me a moment of Zen is the opportunity to experience a relaxed state when the intuitive mind is active. My state of Zen is in Nature. Support the show

When my grandson was young, we took a fall walk to the Lupine Field and he pointed wide-eyed across the valley to snow-covered Mt. Washington and said, “I can see the ice age.” I saw it the other day and knew that winter is on its way. Life has many changes to it. Support the show

Recently I spotted a woodpecker on the old maple outside our window. I had never seen that variety in over fifty years of living here. I believe it is a red bellied woodpecker. Every day I set my intentions to discover life again as I never know what the next mystery might be. Support the show

I recently transplanted some wild asters from the Lupine Field to the Ormond Gardens at the Center. I thought of how this Nation has accepted millions of transplants over the years who have helped build it in many positive ways. Support the show

The fall foliage colors are changing day by day here in the mountains, and it won’t be long before the leaves will be gone from the trees. It is often hard to achieve big goals in life because they seem so overwhelming. The secret is to create small day by day positive goals leading to a larger one. Support the show

Besides a violent side with strong storms that reshape the landscape, Nature has a loving side like the small red heart-shaped leaf that caused me to pause and smile. That beautiful moment filled my heart with gratitude to share. Support the show

As a joke, I placed an old mailbox near the Cabin, knowing the mail is not delivered there. I think of people that spend their time waiting for something they wanted to be manifested, often giving up before the delivery is made. The Source has its own delivery schedule. Support the show

As Halloween approaches, the gremlins are making their presence known. I am now finding just “skin and bone” leaf skeletons in the woods. Nature is closing its growing season. Some people, like the leaves, seem to have lost their purpose. Fortunately, they can grow again in any season. Support the show

Another reason I celebrate the fall is the red berries on the holly-like winter bushes that brighten up the landscape. Actually, I look for something positive to celebrate every day of the year. My intention is to share that gratitude with others. Support the show

I must admit: I wonder a lot, especially about the yet unsolved mysteries of life; such as bigfoot, ghosts, spirits, and Nature’s grand design for life. I wondered, when I spotted a leaf that looked like it had an image of an upright figure, if it was impression of something more. Support the show

Many people consider Nature’s biggest show of the year to be fall foliage. Some people just like to watch shows while others like to be in them. I like to watch the colors of fall spread from my windows and by going for a walk in Nature.   Support the show

I don’t know if you have ever been for a walk in the woods when the oak trees are releasing acorns, but they often sound like rocks being thrown. In life we often feel like we want to wear a hard hat to protect ourselves from negativity.  Support the show

I look forward to experiencing October from the bench at the top edge of the Lupine Field. People have told us for years it is one of the most special places they have ever visited. I believe each of us has a special place to visit in person or in our minds all year long. Support the show

While most of the flowering plants are beginning to peter out from a productive summer, there are asters in the Lupine Field in full bloom. Our minds are now brimming with the flowering of new ideas and goals for the winter and the spring beyond. Support the show

We are approaching fall foliage season. It has been slowly developing over the past month, but in some places the landscape is still mostly green. Nature has its own time schedule as is true many times in life where changes may be rapid or seem like they take forever. Support the show

We recently had some more flowers added to the Ormond Gardens. We knew they were coming and had planned a place for them. I am inspired by people who always have room on their busy plates to help others. They touch many lives with their unselfish acts of kindness. Support the show

I recently spotted a good-sized hole in a bank of dirt. I am not sure what animal made it or its purpose. Perhaps it was an escape tunnel or a den. I think of people and healthy places to escape for a few moments as I have on the Mountain. It could be a book, music or a visit to Nature. Support the show

With everything that is currently taking place in the world these days it seems as if everyone is sitting on pins and needles. It comes down to trusting in one’s Source to guide them for the best positive results as they take the next step down their soul’s path. Support the show

The old wagon rests in the Orchard, hunkered down in just about the same place as we found it when we bought the land. The goal is to someday restore it. That may or may not happen. We all have projects that are hunkered down in our minds. They may or may not happen. Support the show

I find the milkweeds a fascinating plant that helps sustain the life of butterflies in the fields on the mountainside. I think of people that help sustain acts of kindness from planting the seeds and watching others spread them as they help promote positivity. Support the show

Before the trees release most of their leaves, there is an opportunity to appreciate the artistic work of Nature in those that have found their way to earth. It is easy to miss individuals when they are in large groups unless we choose a single person to focus on. Support the show
