Because there is no distinction in the universal indictment—all have sinned—there is no distinction in the universal offer: all are justified by grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.

After three chapters of airtight indictment, God himself provides the righteousness no one could produce — manifested in Christ, witnessed by the whole Old Testament, and offered freely through faith to everyone who will believe.

The law closes every door and stops every mouth, leaving the whole world accountable to God with no plea remaining — which is exactly the posture in which the gospel finds us.

No external religious advantage — law, covenant sign, or theological credential — can produce the circumcision of the heart that God requires; only Christ has fulfilled that demand, and He offers the result freely to all who trust in Him.

The moralist who judges others stands under the same condemnation as everyone else — for God’s righteous standard exposes every form of self-justification — and the only ground that holds is the perfect obedience of Christ, offered freely to all who come to him.

The wrath of God is already being revealed against a humanity that suppresses what it inescapably knows about God — and the moral disorder, displaced guilt, and inverted values of our culture are not signs of human progress but of divine judgment already underway. This is why we need a righteousness that comes from outside us.

The righteousness that God requires and that we cannot produce has been fully revealed and freely given in Jesus Christ — in his life, his death, his resurrection, and his ascension — and received by faith alone.

Paul is not ashamed of the gospel because the power that saves does not belong to him — it belongs to God — and a power that is entirely God's needs no human improvement, only faithful proclamation

The gospel creates a mutual bond among believers that is itself a gift of grace — one that Paul longs for, that sustains the mission, and that obligates everyone who has received it to bring it to others.

The gospel of God, centered entirely on Jesus Christ, is the only thing that can tell you who you are, why you exist, and what you have — and it has been given to you freely.
