Mama in the Saddle
One piece of the equestrian world where there is a surprising lack of information is for the horse crazy mom, a woman who wants to pursue her horse goals and dreams while being a mama. This podcast is for equestrian moms with the goal of encouraging them that it is not only possible but important to pursue our horse goals as mothers, and that our children can be the wind beneath our wings as we do it.

Episode 35: Magic in the Mundane 21.05.2026 25:29
In this episode, Elizabeth talks about how Hobbits, wizards, sparkling bananas and horse training go together and blend into a reality that teaches us so much of how we are to walk with the Lord. I mention specifically, Psalm 32:9, "Be not like a horse or a mule, without understanding, which must be curbed with bit and bridle, or it will not stay near you." Key themes: Be like a horse th...

Do you think that your emotions are based off circumstances, or can you actually control how you might feel in a given situation? By the time this episode goes live, it will be my birthday! And it's a milestone birthday, which is a neat opportunity to look back on all that has happened, and look ahead into all that could be. In this episode, I talk about nostalgia and the brevity of life and how to handle those emotions, gi...
Episode 32: Happiness As Reward 05.03.2026 9:15
Have you ever stopped to consider that encouragement leads to happiness, which affects not only our horsemanship and motherhood, but also our own wellbeing? For our horses, we reward them with showing by scratches, treats or pauses in training that what they are doing is right, and we are pleased with them. They seek our joy. Likewise, children seek our happiness and delight when we are happy with...

Do you ever struggle to not only feel, but show, happiness? Perhaps you know you love horses, but you struggle to show that happiness with them, because you are afraid you will make someone uncomfortable by your joy. Or perhaps you are afraid you'll bore them. Perhaps you're hesitant because sometimes happiness feels vulnerable. I have been in those places before, and so this year, I'm...

Episode 23: All or Nothing 07.10.2025 15:30
Do you ever have an all or nothing mentality? Where if you can't do something 100%, then you might choose to not do it at all? I know I do. This has recently been brought to my attention, and it's fascinating how it applies to both our horsemanship and motherhood. The Wonder of Rest: A Chat with Eryn Lynum 27.06.2025 53:00
I have heard that one of the missing pieces in our lives today (whether with our children, our horses, our training schedules, work, etc.), is the recognition and need for rest. I am not talking about plopping on the couch with your phone to scroll after the kids go to bed, but true rest, the kind God calls us to in His Word. In this episode, I chat with Master Naturalist, teacher, and podcast h...
Encouragement Doth Wonders 16.05.2025 13:42
Have you ever stopped to be amazed at the wonder it is that we get to work with horses? And that they are willing to be trained to do such amazing things for us? I train my horse in a reward based way, and so when I work with him, I "mark" the maneuver I want by releasing cues, or a treat, lots of scratches in his favorite places, or a bit of everything. It is amazing how willing he is t...
