Make a Difference

Each of us always have a choice on how we respond to situations and move our lives forward as we see fit. We can get "stuck" sometimes and producing these sessions are my way of helping me get "unstuck" and to be mindful that I have a choice. Even if I don't make a choice, I still have made a choice. Published Monday through Friday, these sessions are somewhere between mindfulness and reflection. Starting with a quote and a quick thought, Make a Difference just might become a daily stop on making us both a better version of ourselves; one day at a time. Join me and let's find out! 2 Choices... 23.01.2020

“There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them” ― Denis Waitley We have discussed that January was the focus upon change. I have found that this daily focus and self talk is making a positive difference in the new year. Today's episode talks about the changes I am learning.

Challenge Accepted 22.01.2020

I had shared early this week in the Bring Your Dead episode that many people choose to remain in a mindset that they cannot change their position, they are stuck. Today's quote by Roger Crawford asks me to review that thought and understand that challenges are going to happen no matter what in life.  They come in all different shapes and sizes for each of us; we all have them and nobody escap...

Are You Stuck In a Loop? 21.01.2020

“‎Today is a new day. It's a day you have never seen before and will never see again. Stop telling yourself the 'same crap, different day' lie! How many days has that lie stolen from you? Seize the wonder and uniqueness of today! Recognize that throughout this beautiful day, you have an incredible amount of opportunities to move your life into the direction you want it to go.” ― Steve Maraboli, Un...

Bring Out Your Dead... 20.01.2020

Today's quote from Og Mandino reminded me of the classic Monty Python sketch from the Holy Grail: Bring Out  Dead. Life can be very brutal and squash dreams, drive and self-esteem.   For some this can be a bad day while others endure this for longer periods.  What I have learned during some these  personal trials is that I have the power to shape my perception of the chall...

This Sums It Up Nicely... 17.01.2020

Today's fast paced society just wants to know the summary of things in order to decide if we really want to take the time to dig into a concept or discussion.   Out of respect for your time, I offer today's quote from Steve Maraboli for consideration on how to spend some time: “We are mathematical equations where your life is the sum of all choices you've made until now. The good news is...

What If... 16.01.2020

Today's quote flips that issue around in a great way for reflection: “What if you were wrong? What if everything you ever believed was a lie? What if you missed your opportunity because you didn't know your worth? What if you settled on familiar, but God was trying to give you something better? What if you decided not to go backwards, but forward? What if doing what you have never done before was...

Do You Make Decisions in Hope or Fear? 15.01.2020

“May your choices reflect your hopes, not your fears.” ― Nelson Mandela It would seem that making decisions would always stem toward improvement and that fear would not be part of that process.   Yet, I have found that I tend to make decisions in a "play it safe" mode and reduce the reward that I may have received a choice not shrouded through fear of making the wrong choice.

Let's Go with the Flow Today 14.01.2020

“If you decide to just go with the flow, you'll end up where the flow goes, which is usually downhill, often leading to a big pile of sludge and a life of unhappiness. You'll end up doing what everyone else is doing.” ― Sean Covey, The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective Teens This quote has merit no matter what your age. There are days we are tired, beaten down, or just plan wiped out. Sometimes, I thin...

The Myth of the Drift 13.01.2020

“We don’t drift in good directions. We discipline and prioritize ourselves there.” ― Andy Stanley, The Principle of the Path: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be There is a perception among some that people are just "lucky" and are "chosen" to fall into a position in life.   More often than not, others do not see the work that goes on behind the scenes that lead that pe...

Decisions, Decisions, What to Wear Today? 10.01.2020

“It is easy to decide on what is wrong to wear to a party, such as deep-sea diving equipment or a pair of large pillows, but deciding what is right is much trickier.” ― Lemony Snicket, The Slippery Slope A simple metaphor on choice always help focus me on the real decisions at hand.   The obvious choices are not often the ones that I struggle with, its the choices where both options have...

You Attract What You Project 10.01.2020

Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are. James Allen Today’s quote really caused me to look at alignment in the teams of people I work with and how important the culture between the team and core values is to achievement; this can transfer to your personal life as well.

Find Your Strengths and Apply Them 09.01.2020

“You have two choices in life...Choice one is to be the same and be like everyone else...Choice two is to be yourself and be a difference-maker.” ― Jazlyn Roehl Consider identification of your strengths and make sure you are bringing the best you have to offer. https://www.gallup.com/cliftonstrengths/en/strengthsfinder.aspx

The 2 Choices in Life 08.01.2020

LIfe really is made up of 2 choices: A or B Breath in or Breath out Yes or No You have to do one or the other, but you can't stay here. So often fear stops us from making a choice but can we really stop?

Dealing with Self Doubt 07.01.2020

“The only real conflict you will ever have in your life won’t be with others, but with yourself.” ― Shannon L. Alder Self doubt is normal and you have to believe that you can accomplish your goal or all the planning in the world may not help you achieve it. Listen in today's episode on how I changed the way I look for support to believe in my choices.

Faced with a Mountain 06.01.2020

Today's quote for reflection is: “If you are faced with a mountain, you have several options. You can climb it and cross to the other side. You can go around it. You can dig under it. You can fly over it. You can blow it up. You can ignore it and pretend it’s not there. You can turn around and go back the way you came. Or you can stay on the mountain and mak...

2020 Week 1 Reflection 06.01.2020

This week was the 1st week of the plan to be accountable to me. I have found it invigorating all the variations of discussions on social media and with others in my physical space.   I hope that this continues to be an upfront discussion  this week, and I plan to take it.    How did your week shape up for you?  Have to taken a moment to reflect and consider how you w...

You Are Here to Make a Difference 03.01.2020

Today I am reflecting upon the fact that I am here to make a difference. I can choose what I wish to impact and even choosing nothing still is going to make a difference in people around me depending on the topic. Today I am going to reflect on how my actions impact those around me.
