Make a Difference

Each of us always have a choice on how we respond to situations and move our lives forward as we see fit. We can get "stuck" sometimes and producing these sessions are my way of helping me get "unstuck" and to be mindful that I have a choice. Even if I don't make a choice, I still have made a choice. Published Monday through Friday, these sessions are somewhere between mindfulness and reflection. Starting with a quote and a quick thought, Make a Difference just might become a daily stop on making us both a better version of ourselves; one day at a time. Join me and let's find out! Spread Your Unique Joy Today 21.02.2020

“If you celebrate your differentness, the world will, too. It believes exactly what you tell it—through the words you use to describe yourself, the actions you take to care for yourself, and the choices you make to express yourself. Tell the world you are one-of-a-kind creation who came here to experience wonder and spread joy. Expect to be accommodated.” ― Victoria Moran, Lit From Within: Tending...

Your Attitude Always Leads... 20.02.2020

Today's quote from Kahlil Gibran continues to display the importance of how we percieve ourselves and the impact that has on our attitude. It says: Your living is determined not so much by what life brings to you as by the attitude you bring to life; not so much by what happens to you as by the way your mind looks at what happens.

What Do You Answer To? 19.02.2020

This week has examined the perspectives we have of ourselves compared to outside influences. A lot of pressure can be exerted on our mental state as a result of allowing unnatural perspectives to influence our self perception. Today's quote by Lucille Clifton sums this up in a brief and simple statement to help you remember this.

The Concept of Bravery 18.02.2020

“There are so many ways to be brave in this world. Sometimes bravery involves laying down your life for something bigger than yourself, or for someone else. Sometimes it involves giving up everything you have ever known, or everyone you have ever loved, for the sake of something greater. But sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it is nothing more than gritting your teeth through pain, and the work of e...

Get Creative Today! 15.02.2020

I came across a quote that I have been a fan of for many years and it credited to Einstein . "Creativity is intelligence having fun." With it being the weekend and still having a Sunday to apply this to, I offer some ideas to get started.

To Live a Creative LIfe 14.02.2020

With today being Valentine’s Day our quote has meaning on 2 different levels: 1st for those of us who are looking for a unique and creative gift for our spouse or significant other, and 2nd for our daily pursuit of the study of attitude and self improvement. I will leave it to you to apply it in the best manner for you today 🙂 To Live a creative life, we must loose our fear of being wrong. – Jo...

Today is Too Important to Allow Yesterday to Remain 13.02.2020

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year. He is rich who owns the day, and no one owns the day who allows it to be invaded with fret and anxiety. Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities, no doubt crept in. Forget them as soon as you can, tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely, with too high a spirit to b...

Getting Things in Order 10.02.2020

To put the world right in order, we must first put the nation in order; to put the nation in order, we must first put the family in order; to put the family in order, we must first cultivate our personal life; we must first set our hearts right. Confucius Have you ever tried to put things in order when your attitude is out of order?

You Attract What You Are 06.02.2020

Men do not attract that which they want, but that which they are. James Allen Today’s quote really caused me to look at alignment in the teams of people I work with and how important the culture between the team and core values is to achievement; this can transfer to your personal life as well.

Attitude is a choice, choose wisely. 05.02.2020

“Attitude is a choice. Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Whatever choice you make makes you. Choose wisely.” - Roy T Bennet Gandhi’s quote to start this week was powerful but today’s quote expresses this in the most simple of terms: the relationship between choice and attitude can not be overstated.

You Become What You Think About 04.02.2020

Nurture your mind with great thoughts, for you will never go any higher than you think. Benjamin Disraeli I have been asked why I am choosing to dedicate the time I spend on this podcast. Today’s quote explains the answer to this question nicely. Meditation and reflection have a powerful ability to focus the mindset past the present; and being mindful of my thoughts allows me to maintain a positiv...

It's Time For an Attitude Adjustment 03.02.2020

Welcome back to Make a Difference. In the month of February we will study attitude. Now that I have become aware of power that I always have a choice, the choices that I make can have dramatic power of the attitude that I approach the day with. Today’s quote from Gandhi sums this approach up very clearly and needs very little reflection to get the point. I believe is makes a great thought to start...

Reflection upon January Study of Choice 31.01.2020

We have come to the end of January and that marks the end of the study of change. I think this quote makes a good summary of our study this month. It comes from Steve Maraboli who is quickly become someone I am seeking out to read more often. “There are times in my life when I have been medicine for some while poison for others. I used to think I was a victim of my story until I realized the truth...

“Changing is what people do when they have no options left.” ― Holly Black, Red Glove Today's quote offers a great reflection for those of us who resist choices and change.   It has been stated early in the podcast that one always has a choice and that even refusing to make a choice is still a choice.  It was discussed with a quote from Covey that going with the flow generally leads...

Escaping Your Comfort Zone 24.01.2020

I use an analogy about a box when I teach and it goes along with today's quote about the comfort zone.   The classroom has square tiles in the carpet and I walk along the perimeter of the square and identify it with my students.   This is a square I have walked for many years in this classroom and I know it well and I know every inch of it.   I tell the students about the...
