LUMC Team 412

#01 - LUMC Team 412, based upon Ephesians 4:12, seeks to "... prepare God's people for works of service ...".  Team 412 is designed with YOU in mind - giving you some practical tips, suggestions, helpful hints, and insights - that are important to help YOU become a BETTER leader.

#02 - The most basic definition of a servant leader is one who leads by serving others.  Servant leaders empower individuals, focus on their growth, and ensure their basic needs are met.  Servant leaders inspire others to do their best, guide others by their influence and positive example, and hold themselves and individuals on their team to account.

#03 - An overview of five must-haves for every leader to give you a taste of what you must do and demonstrate consistently to be a better leader:  Trust, Teamwork, Listening, Perspective, and Humor.

#05 - Listening has been described as the JUDO of communication skills - it's gentle, flexible, and REALLY powerful.  Good listening skills are essential to being a good leader.  listen!  It's the highest complement you can pay to another person.

#04 - Seven essential values for leaders who serve, helping to describe the core values that you live by and show to the world.  The values that great leaders live by show us who they really are and what they truly stand for.  What distinguishes great leaders from everyone else is how true they are to their own core values.

#06 - SMART GOALS are ones that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely.  YOU, as leader, must keep yourself and your team on task to complete the goals you have set or have been set for you, and you must have action steps in place to achieve those goals.

#07 - You need to build a ministry team of good people who can work well together, and assemble those people into a cohesive, well-functioning team.  It's somewhat like Herding Cats.

#08 - One of the greatest tests of your leadership abilities will be how you, as a leader serving others, will help manage change.  Much of the fears about change can be avoided or at least alleviated by some careful consideration and positive action on yhour part.

#09 - Accountability is an absolute necessity to getting things done and done WELL.  Being Accountable means taking responsibility for one's actions, decisions and their consequences.  Accountability with volunteers adds another dimension of difficulty, yet it is crucial for effective teamwork and success of the project or ministry area.

#10 - Meeting Mania - that's a peculiar disease that affects nearly everyone these days.  Some people look forward to the next meeting.   Others look for ways to avoid it.  Managing effective and productive meetings requires a lot of the leader's (that's YOU!) planning time and energy.

#11 - When you find yourself in hot water now and then, will you be like the carrot, the egg, or the coffee bean?  Will you give in like the carrot, resist like the egg, or become an agent for change?  Be the Coffee Bean .

#12 - CODA, a musical term for the ending of a composition, and here we are at the end of our Cohort 2 journey together.  In this episode, we'll take a good look in the rear view mirror to see where we've been and what we've accomplished.
