Living Your Holiest Hot Mess Life

In 1 Corinthians 1:8 The apostle Paul is encouraging the people of Corinth to recognize that God is it work in them. We can be encouraged to know that God is also at work in us and that God and God alone is the reason for our success. When we stumble and we fall short, we can trust that God is still able to make us faultless even in the midst of our holiest hot mess lives.

1 Samuel 17:47 is a very familiar passage about David and Goliath. In this podcast, we're looking at how we can trust God's strategy even when others don't understand and even when we might not understand what God is at work doing in our holiest hot mess lives.

1 Samuel 15:29 reminds us that God is trustworthy even when we're not. God doesn't lie and God will fulfill his problem His promises. When we are able to stop thinking of God in human limitations, it will help us to be excited and motivated to live our holiest hot mess lives in ways that are pleasing to Him and helpful to others.

Psalm 80:14, 18-19 are verses that remind us that we're not the only ones who break promises to God. In Romans 5:6-11, we are reminded that God considers us to be His friends because of Christ's sacrifice for us. In what ways or areas is God requiring a sacrifice from us today as we live our holiest hot mess lives?

In 1 Kings 8:57-58, Solomon is dedicating the Temple to God and praying for God to bless His people with a spirit of obedience. Jesus is the ultimate example of obedience and today's podcast can help us to be obedient in the midst of living our holiest hot mess lives.

This year for most of us is the first time in two years that we've been inside a church building for Holy Week. In Psalm 70, David presents a pattern of prayer in which he goes back and forth between asking God to do things to his enemies and praising God for Who He is. As we continue growing in how we live our holiest hot mess lives, let's seek our help from God while shifting our focus to Him and off of our challenges.

In James 5:17-18, James reminds us that Elijah was just a human being like us. Yet Elijah had amazing power within him to access God and to use His greatness for His glory. In Psalm 139, David blesses us with a beautiful song that we can read through as a prayer to God. In James 1:12, we're reminded that testing yields a reward when we're able to remain faithful. God is growing us and He is using us to teach others of His greatness and of the blessing of being in relationship with Him. No matter how down we get - how depressed or overwhelmed - we can remind ourselves of how God has blessed us and helped us in the past. He's with us and He's powerful enough to protect and even bless us with new peace and joy as we continue living our holiest hot mess lives.

In James 1:26-27 we're reminded of the importance of how we use our words and what God requires from us in our works. He's not looking for us to build prosperity but to build people by showing compassion and investing into being a blessing to those who are in need. In Psalm 68:19-20, David wrote with beautiful imagery all about God's amazing grace and incredible victories. We are saved by God through the sacrifice Jesus paid for our sins when He died on the cross and rose from the dead, but we're also saved by God repeatedly throughout our holiest hot mess lives.

In Psalm 64:10, David is crying out to God to rescue him, but by the end of the psalm, David is rejoicing after the rescue. As God continues to rescue us from dangers seen and unseen, we need to be more mindful of how we rejoice. In the midst of calamity and destruction God is telling the people that if they turn back to Him even now, God will bless them.
