Living Your Holiest Hot Mess Life

Colossians 3:16-17 wraps up our week of words to live by found in this chapter. Today we find that we're able to be strategic and determined to live our holiest hot mess lives when we allow Christ's message to live in our hearts and we worship Him with thanksgiving.

Colossians 3:15 helps us to remember that no matter what is happening in the world, it's the peace of God that we are to use to guide our decisions - to shape our responses - so that we can operate out of the Fruit of the Holy Spirit. Colossians 3:13 really holds us accountable as to how we are to tolerate and forgive those who have wronged us. Building off of yesterday's verse, we are reminded that God has forgiven us greatly and so we must also forgive others as we continue living our whole holiest hot mess lives.

Colossians 3:12 reminds us that not only are we loved by God but we are chosen by God to be His people. Since God chooses us and loves us, we need to be strategic in how we show love to others so that we can help them to recognize God's love for them and to be in right relationship with Him. As we do this, we will also continue to grow in our character while living our holiest hot mess lives.

Isaiah 30:18 reminds us that God is always waiting on us - He desires to bless us, to be merciful to us, to guide us in living our holiest hot mess lives. We don't have to wonder where He is or what He's doing because He's right next to us - waiting for us to turn to Him for whatever we need... let's also look around and see who else might need to be encouraged and reminded that God's waiting for...

Isaiah 29:13 calls us out for when we think we're worshiping God when in reality we're just going through the motions. This isn't about beating ourselves up - this is about getting back on track! Living our holiest hot mess lives requires real worship and today's podcast reminds us how.

Isaiah 28:29 is a powerful verse at the end of a daunting chapter filled with warnings of destruction. When we follow God's wisdom, we find success. When we stray from His wisdom, we tend to struggle. Living our holiest hot mess lives is easier when we're walking in God's wisdom.

Isaiah 12:2-5 reminds us of Who God is and also provides us with a template for how to live our lives in position to be watered by God in our dry seasons. We can be refreshed by Him as we're living our holiest hot mess lives when we remember to focus on Him!

Romans 16:20a teaches us that God is our source of peace. It also reminds us that God's timing is not ours. Joshua 1:8 reminds us of the importance of studying and reviewing God's Holy Word. When we do, we're empowered to fight back against the attacks of the enemy and we're also able to encourage others. Living our holiest hot mess lives is easier (and more successful) when we study and review the Word of the Lord - when we memorize it and are able to apply it!

Psalm 27:4 has been made into contemporary songs because it's words are wisdom for worship and living. In a world of distractions, seeking God first and foremost is how we live our holiest hot mess lives.

Isaiah 64:4 is quoted frequently as 1Corinthians 2:9 - eyes have not seen the greatness of our God. As we continue to grow in our capacity to live our holiest hot mess lives, let us be mindful to see God at work in our day to day struggles and celebrations. And in so doing, let's point others to Him.

Psalm 93:1-4 reminds us of the magnitude of God's power not just throughout time and space but specifically in our lives. When we recognize and remember that we have access to this unlimited power, we're able to stand in the midst of our holiest hot mess lives and trust that God is working it out.

In 2Samuel 22:29, David reminds us that God is our light in the darkness. No matter what darkness we're going through, God's Word can encourage and even protect us. God's Word also reminds us that we, too, are called to shine His bright light in other people's darkness as we live our holiest hot mess lives.

When we sing of God's love and faithfulness, especially in times of trial and tribulation, our singing shifts the atmosphere and changes our attitudes. There's so much power in music! Let's learn how to harness that power to help us to live our holiest hot mess lives.
