Living Torah

Form and function. These two concepts are brought forth in the Tabernacle. Hebrews 8 tells us Moshe was building an earthly model of what already existed in the Heavenly realm. How does this earthly model speak into and direct each of our lives?

Why start with a set of rules and a man who is a Hebrew servant? It just does not make sense until we understand what the rules are for. Tracing the first use of the word will give a whole new understanding and meaning as to why Yah gave us rules.

Moshe returns to the place he had been promised, Mt. Sinai. He gathers the people, puts the camp in order and then it is time to wait. Wait for what, they do not know. What will come forth are words that will define history. What commandment stands out though?

We may be thousands of years from the original exodus, but the story remains the same. A group of covenant people being freed from exile and led back to a land promised to their ancestors. Times and faces may change. Let us learn our lessons from their times and faces.

Moshe is not being told to go to Pharoah, but rather to come to Pharoah. What is the difference? A new calendar! Great idea. Now the Hebrews can have calendar issues. Not as long as they understand the purpose. Is Passover a day, a season or a lifestyle?

Yah makes Himself know to Moshe in a way the patriarchs did not know. Will this same principle apply to us in our day? So much is happening in our world that parallels Egypt. It is a time to be observant so as not to become vulnerable. 

Why is the book called Exodus when it should be titled Names? People focus on events while Yah focuses on people. In the end, do the people make the events or ds the events reveal the people? The words of this book need to be read, not only as a study, but as a warning!

Jacob did not just sit back in his rocking chair and wait to die in Egypt. He used this time to pass on to his growing family the stories of the man he had been and the man he had become. At the end of his life, he sees Yah as his shepherd. This gives us further insights for us to personally consider.

The tension in the room can be felt. Joseph is on the verge of revealing his true identity. He then speaks some of the most incredible words ever spoken. They are words yet to be spoken again. The pattens of exile continue and will until the Kingdom is established.

It has been at least 13 years since Joseph’s dreams. Seems like a long time to realize a dream. That is until we consider that he dream of The Almighty has been in the works for 6000 years.  Beans. Bullets and Band-Aids! All may be good, but will be worthless in the end without one more thing. Hint? Starts with a “B”!

Jacob continues living, but the words we read are about Joseph. This gives us another hint into the purpose of Scripture. Joseph’s life becomes one of the most amazing shadows of prophecy in all of Scripture. Truly declaring the end out of the beginning. 

The false purity of Lavan is behind Jacob, but the compromised of Esau is in front of him. The picture this paints is one that describes our current walk from exile to The Kingdom. Will we fall into the trap of appeasing our past or being victorious over our past?

Jacob is sent into exile. Could there have been another way to bring forth this Man of Covenant? In the end, it is the revelation of his real-life difficulties and issues which give us all hope for our own lives. Exile will fight our leaving. If it loses that fight, it will try to go with us.

What would cause 2 children to fight in a womb to the place the mother would not want to go on living? Boils down to a single word; covenant. The physical realm of Rebbeca’s womb was a mirror image of the war in the spiritual realm. Today, the battle continues.

The death of Sarah reminds us to live our days in such a way that we make a difference. What is the difference? Is it wealth, honor, fame or something far greater? To not know the purpose for a life is like pushing back from a full table, having eaten nothing. 

This week we are introduced to a man of many facets, from hospitality to intersession. Let’s look at a different facet, stability. What caused him to walk out an imperfect, perfect life and have such a great epitaph written of him in the end? What epitaph? The one written by Yah Himself in Hebrews 11.

Noah was a man called righteous and wholehearted in his generation. With that being said, he was only able to influence 7 people other than himself to board the ark. The responsibly to be an example of righteousness did not come with the responsibility for his generation’s rejection of righteousness. Ours does not either. 

As the heavens listen and the earth hears, they both resound with the sounds of war. The real war is in the heavenly realm. The battlefield is upon this earth.  A look at Psalm 2 ends our Torah cycle this year.  May His Kingdom come soon and in our day!

This week begins with a very personal message to our listeners.  The last Torah portion is so rich with meaning, not just to a people standing on the edge of entering into promises, but to us today. Moshe has come to the end of his life. It is time for a page to turn, a page of new leadership. The words spken to Joshua should give us courage for our day.

The words of The Song Of Moses seem to be written for the days we are living in. From the concept of light rain or floods to who is to “blame” for the world conditions. In the end, Moses would not enter into The Land. The reasons should send chills up and down our spines.

When it comes to our place in the establishment of His Kingdom, are we standing or just standing around? Some have even decided that instead of standing around, they can just lay around. Let us be a people who embrace our place in His Kingdom and begin to breath the air of that Kingdom.

To come into the Kingdom, you must first go out to war. No war, no victory? The blessings and curses are tied to the word if. What if we take the word if out and change it to the word as? Do we then make a part of Scripture irrelevant? Irrelevant to us?

If Scripture does not affect our daily life, then why should we think it will affect or eternal life? It is amazing just how much of Scripture teaches us basic common sense. Common sense? A commodity which should be on the endangered species list today. Time for a people to help restore it!

Words mean things! In fact, words are so powerful that if we do not understand the proper meaning, they can lead us to condemnation and bondage instead of righteousness and freedom.  One of the most prophetic events of 1900 plus years is happening before our eyes, but most are not seeing it.

Deuteronomy 11:26-16:17 “In light of eternity, what does it matter?” The words of my pastor years ago are an echo of the words of Moshe. Do we live by sight or by vision, sight or faith? This concept is becoming more important with every passing day. joinedtohashem.org
