Living Torah

A special guest joins me from a report on camp. Are we still moving forward or become a bit stagnate? Bit shorter teaching this week as so much is happening in the mountains of North Carolina!

Is there really a place of significance to those who feel they have been cast out or divorced from Yah? The answer is found in the name Gershon. Each of us have a part in his Kingdom and He desires to put His name on us to prove it.

The Book of Numbers. The uncharted territory of exile. Our journey in and through exile is a test. Our outcome will be our final grade. It will also be an answer to Yeshua’s question found in the Book of Luke.

How can a person say they love God, but have no interest in the things and people He loves? Is lip service enough? How about a very simple challenge to dream based upon a few verses which speak of our future?

Living to a higher standard is what Yah calls us to, but people are not always on board. Some will even be offended by your desire. The Festivals again? How do we approach this chapter? Is it with awe or familiarity?

The Protocal of Awe! The path to intimacy with Yah has to be within the boundaries and protocol He has set in Scripture. When we follow His path we become a people worthy of not only entering into our destination, but remaining in our destination.  

Not only do we turn to “That Torah portion”, but this year we have “Those Torah portions” together as one. After all, the message is always one. What is the message? The Father loves us enough to discipling us! What will our response be? Will we focus on the rotten fruit or deal with the root?

The first word of this Torah portion can be passed over so quickly, but sets the stage for all that is written after it.  Why was the offering specific to the eighth day? What is the strange fire and how does that lead into Chapter 11? It is not only important to do, but to know why we do.

“When You Order” The words seem almost sterile at first glance. The actual beauty of these words lead to an amazing revelation which speaks not only to our very being, but also to our daily lives. Have you ever considered the emptiness of the word, thanks or the words, thank you?

Passover. We are told in Scripture to tell the story of the events of this amazing day. Is the story only about Egypt though? What if the story begins in the Garden and leads throughout history into the Millennium? How can we sum up this story in one word?

The book of “Leviticus” is very much understood. Maybe the reason is because it is taught that it is written for a small group of people, but in fact it is written for a large group of people. How are we doing at laying into our offerings unto Yah?

In the work of preparation for a place for Yah to dwell, each person has equal status and equal stake. The choice we are given is in the attitude in which we bring our status and stake. Just how much “golden calf” are we holding onto in our lives? 

“Give an order” seems like pretty direct language, but it raises a question we should all ask, does our Creator have a right to give us an order and how do we respond when He does. Breastplates, offerings, oil and incense. How do these items speak into our lives today?

Form and function. These two concepts are brought forth in the Tabernacle. Hebrews 8 tells us Moshe was building an earthly model of what already existed in the Heavenly realm. How does this earthly model speak into and direct each of our lives?

Why start with a set of rules and a man who is a Hebrew servant? It just does not make sense until we understand what the rules are for. Tracing the first use of the word will give a whole new understanding and meaning as to why Yah gave us rules.

Moshe returns to the place he had been promised, Mt. Sinai. He gathers the people, puts the camp in order and then it is time to wait. Wait for what, they do not know. What will come forth are words that will define history. What commandment stands out though?

We may be thousands of years from the original exodus, but the story remains the same. A group of covenant people being freed from exile and led back to a land promised to their ancestors. Times and faces may change. Let us learn our lessons from their times and faces.

Moshe is not being told to go to Pharoah, but rather to come to Pharoah. What is the difference? A new calendar! Great idea. Now the Hebrews can have calendar issues. Not as long as they understand the purpose. Is Passover a day, a season or a lifestyle?

Yah makes Himself know to Moshe in a way the patriarchs did not know. Will this same principle apply to us in our day? So much is happening in our world that parallels Egypt. It is a time to be observant so as not to become vulnerable. 

Why is the book called Exodus when it should be titled Names? People focus on events while Yah focuses on people. In the end, do the people make the events or ds the events reveal the people? The words of this book need to be read, not only as a study, but as a warning!

Jacob did not just sit back in his rocking chair and wait to die in Egypt. He used this time to pass on to his growing family the stories of the man he had been and the man he had become. At the end of his life, he sees Yah as his shepherd. This gives us further insights for us to personally consider.

The tension in the room can be felt. Joseph is on the verge of revealing his true identity. He then speaks some of the most incredible words ever spoken. They are words yet to be spoken again. The pattens of exile continue and will until the Kingdom is established.

It has been at least 13 years since Joseph’s dreams. Seems like a long time to realize a dream. That is until we consider that he dream of The Almighty has been in the works for 6000 years.  Beans. Bullets and Band-Aids! All may be good, but will be worthless in the end without one more thing. Hint? Starts with a “B”!

Jacob continues living, but the words we read are about Joseph. This gives us another hint into the purpose of Scripture. Joseph’s life becomes one of the most amazing shadows of prophecy in all of Scripture. Truly declaring the end out of the beginning. 

The false purity of Lavan is behind Jacob, but the compromised of Esau is in front of him. The picture this paints is one that describes our current walk from exile to The Kingdom. Will we fall into the trap of appeasing our past or being victorious over our past?
