Let’s Unpack That

Religion EN ↓ 10 episodes

Hey, I’m Kris — an American living in South Africa who loves talking about the real stuff of faith and life. I’ve spent my adult life in ministry, walking with people as they wrestle with what they believe and how that belief shapes the way they live. Let’s Unpack That is a space for women — whether you’re curious about truth, faith, what’s real and trustworthy; or have known Jesus for years — to pause, reflect, and engage with truth that changes everything. It’s honest, raw, hope-filled, and I’m excited to go there with you. Bring your questions and curiosity and let’s unpack it together.

Should women “shoot their shot?” 27.02.2026

In this episode of *Let’s Unpack That*, we continue the conversation from our previous discussion on pursuing the right person, at the right time, in the right way, by tackling a question many Christians wrestle with today: Should women “shoot their shot,”? Within Christian circles there are often three common perspectives. We’ll look at these and see what the Bible says in response. The episode a...

What does the Bible say about dating? Can’t I date anyone I like? 04.02.2026

In this episode, Kris explores how Christians date today—and how much of our approach has been shaped more by culture than by Scripture. Together, we unpack the modern “Christian dating” model and contrast it with the relational framework we actually see in the Bible: brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, and the purposeful pathway toward covenant. Drawing from Scripture’s vision of holiness,...

How do you discern false doctrine? How do you know what’s real and what’s not? 22.01.2026

In this episode, Kris unpacks one of the most pressing questions facing Christians today: How do we discern false doctrine? With Scripture as the ultimate authority, Kris walks through what the Bible actually says about false teaching and false teachers—and why not everything labeled “Christian” is rooted in Christ. From Paul’s strong warning in Galatians to Jesus’ own words about wolves in sheep’...

I don’t need to ask people for advice on decisions I make do I? I am an adult. 13.01.2026

How does the Bible actually respond to this question? In this episode, we explore Scripture’s surprisingly direct answer to radical independence—and why maturity, in God’s economy, is not marked by self-sufficiency but by humility. We’ll look at wisdom literature that warns against being “right in our own eyes,” and we’ll unpack the sobering story of King Rehoboam, the young king who rejected the...

Do I really have to go to church? What if I want to follow God on my own. 05.01.2026

In this episode of Let’s Unpack That, we take the question head-on, with honesty and without the guilt trips. We’re digging into four foundational truths about community, why God designed it, and why we can’t fully follow Him in isolation, even when independence feels easier. We’ll look at what Scripture says about belonging, worshiping together, spiritual growth, accountability, and mission. And...

What is prayer? Is there a certain way I should pray? 17.12.2025

Prayer is one of the most familiar practices in the Christian life—and yet, for many of us, it’s also one of the most confusing. We pray… but sometimes we’re not sure what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, or whether we’re doing it “right.” In this episode, we slow down and let Scripture define prayer for us. Prayer, at its core, is not a formula or a performance. It is an invitation—to draw near t...

Why do Christians memorize the Bible? 08.12.2025

In this episode, we explore a question many why do Christians memorize scripture? We talk about how memorizing Scripture makes real meditation possible when you can’t have a Bible open—in the car, in a meeting, or in the middle of a chaotic day. God’s Word stored in the mind becomes God’s Word available to the heart. You’ll hear how memorized Scripture becomes a weapon against the world, the flesh...

Isn’t it enough to live a morally good life? Can’t living by Christian principles be good enough? 01.12.2025

This week on Let’s Unpack That, Kris wrestles with a common question: Isn’t it enough to simply live a morally good life? Many people believe that living by Christian or traditional value, doing good, spreading joy, and contributing positively to the world -is the ultimate goal. But is morality alone what God is after? In this episode, Kris explores the deeper issue beneath the pursuit of goodness...

We have to start with who Jesus says he is versus who others say he is and understand when we ask this question we have a preconceived idea already at work in our minds and hearts. Let’s unpack this from two angles: intellectual and experiential.
