The local 2020 election season officially begins today. Candidate filing for Lee's Summit City Council and the Lee's Summit R-7 Board of Education closed on Tuesday. We know the candidates' names and now it's time to start getting to know who they are and what exactly are the top issues facing our community.

The crew from Sabor Latino, a new downtown Lee's Summit restaurant joins Nick in studio for a conversation about a growing restaurant and building a new home in downtown. The restaurant is slated to open at the end of January. Oh, and be on the lookout for a new bingo game.

The Lee's Summit R-7 School District names its next Superintendent of Schools, Dr. David Buck; MLK celebrations set for next week; and Nick gets excited about Friday's conversation with the people behind Sabor Latino.

The reverends Hubert Neth and Hans Koschmann requested a return to the studio for an extended conversation about faith and the Christmas season. This time, they wanted to make note of the fact the holidays can hard for some, and that's OK.

This week, we announce the winners of the White Ridge Farm Neighborhood holiday lights contest (thanks for inviting us to be all judgy) and take a look at who filed to run in the next City of Lee's Summit municipal election. But really, it's all about the Christmas lights. We like shiny, happy things.

This week, instead of our usual conversation, the good folks at Downtown Lee's Summit Main Street, inc. and Summit Video Services have given us footage from an April 2019 interview with Howard McCracken. McCracken, who died last week, was a founding member of the Main Street organization and served as its first Board president.
