Leadership in Context

Obedience produces vision, and vision produces provision. Often people look for provision or vision first. There is a biblical sequence where God says: First you obey Me. The gospel message and the creation message are tied together. If you violate the creation message, then you violate the gospel message. If you violate the gospel message, you violate the creation message. God is singular; He is the same. We have to link creation and redemption together. There aren’t many Scriptures about arrows. There are a lot more about bows. When you think of a bow, you think of an arrow. A bow and an arrow work together as one. When you design a house, you design it based on your vision and your needs. That’s how you can have 100 houses which all have the same components, but are all different. There are certain essential things that make a house—a roof, bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms, etc. Discipleship needs to have certain essential components. You’ll never have responsibility for what you don’t see. What we take responsibility for, God gives us authority for. Those who do not accept that responsibility and don’t get that authority will never be able to impart or delegate to the degree that God wants them to. The downriver of responsibility is creativity. God’s grace comes to us and sustains us when we are weak. In our weakness, we become strong. Attacks show us how weak we are and make us dependent upon Christ's strength. Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE . 

Sometimes people get into deception when they over-complicate, over-analyze, over-spin, and bring things in from the outside that are not part of the equation. Be simple in your thinking. We need to be familiar with the Truth. We need to be very clear on the Truth. When we are talking about things, are we edifying people or are we putting more questions in their mind, making them more unstable, more fearful? God wants the gospel to be reliable. God wants the gospel to be sound. God wants the gospel to be consistent. In order for that to happen, you and I have to be consistent with...

Where is your identity? Who do you identify with, and what do you identify as? In our culture today we are seeing identity politics. I’m a citizen of Heaven first, and then I’m a citizen of America. When we make a promise, we must keep it. God keeps His promises to us. This is what covenant looks like. This is what the family of God looks like. This should be our reputation. We are a people who keep our word. Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE . 

We are redeemed. Our salvation should be prized, protected, and propagated. A covenant person understands their unique place in god’s redemptive plan and order. Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE .

A covenant heart honors those who have gone before. Those who have gone before have passed on the stewardship responsibility to us. We honor them by stewarding what they fought for and continuing to build on it. Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE . 

Noah was not serving himself when he built the ark. He understood that it would benefit people in the future. Future generations would be saved. That is covenant. It is not about serving ourselves. With a covenant, there is the idea that there is a third-party beneficiary. A covenant of Christ and His people are that we come together as the body of Christ to benefit the world. The Church, by its nature, becomes sacrificial. We come together not just for mutual benefit, but to benefit the world. Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE . 

Our blessing isn’t dependent on how much other people receive. Our availability and willingness to work in the ministry isn’t dependent on a job or a position. God blesses work. Let’s get up, go out, and get to work in the Kingdom! Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE . 

The fruit of the mustard seed is that it produces more seed. Our fruit is our seed. The Kingdom of Heaven is about producing seed. It is about sowing seed. Show notes (posted every Tuesday) can be found HERE . 

God is doing something in our hearts; He is doing something in the hearts of those we lead. He is building Kingdom. He is cleansing the soil. He is sifting our hearts. Don’t wait until you are in a religious context to serve God. You don’t want to give into peer pressure and not do what you should do. Loving your neighbor looks like ministering on the way to minister. To be a good neighbor, there has to be an abundance of mercy that we are willing to share. If you ask a good question, you have a good chance at getting a good answer. A good question is not one to relieve ourselves of responsibility.
