As we close out in Chapter 2, Paul has been writing about what it means to ‘walk in him’ as you ‘received him’ - by living in and out of what Christ has done for you and avoiding anything that would distraction, disconnect or disqualify you. And now he gets to the root issue and his final warning…revealing the lie and lure of legalism - by showing us how legalism distorts the work Christ has done...

As we move along in Chapter 2, Paul writes about the "many things" that sometime subtly supplant the "one thing" we were made for. When that happens, our whole identity shifts from what Christ has done for us to what WE do, dislodging Him from the center of our attention and affection.
