Nevada County Polls closed on Tuesday at 8pm and unofficial results were reported at 12:00 AM on Wednesday morning. 

The 9 voter centers here in Nevada County opened this morning at 7 and will be close tonight at 8pm. You can learn their locations and much more online at nevadacountyca.gov/elections

According to the Sacramento Bee, a "mass amount of vehicles" were abandoned Friday night over Donner Summit and I-80 closed from Colfax to the Nevada State Line.

Elections are fast approaching so KVMR News Director Cláudio Mendonça sat down with Ariel Lovett, the chair of voter services for the League of Women Voters of Nevada County. 

The third snow survey of this year’s water season was conducted on Thursday and although the overall mountain snowpack is 80% of average for this time of year Climate Scientist Daniel Swain says the Sierra Nevada snowpack could peak above average “in as little as a week.”

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the West Slope of the Northern Sierra Nevada. Gusty winds in Western Nevada County could cause widespread power outages.

Despite the sunny and warm days we’ve recently experienced, forecasters are sounding the alarm about a very cold weather pattern headed our way that could create blizzard conditions and power outages in the Sierra foothills. 

The information gathered from the survey will be used to apply for grants and create policy to address Nevada County’s housing shortage.  

Data collected from the survey will be used to create a Community Wildfire Protection Plan tailored specifically for Nevada City.

The City of Nevada City will be working with Golden State Bridge Inc. to replace the existing concrete bridge with a hybrid steel truss bridge that will mimic the bridges found in Nevada City in the late 1860s.

An overwhelming majority of Nevada County residents do not want the Idaho Maryland Mine to reopen. Whether Rise Gold recognizes that fact remains to be seen. The company has indicated that it may sue. 

The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center forecasts a 5% chance of isolated tornadoes across portions of the Sacramento Valley, including the city of Sacramento. UCLA-affiliated climate and weather scientist Daniel Swain says that, while the chance of a tornado at any one geographic point remains low, the cumulative risk across the area is not insignificant.

On Thursday, Nevada County staff and Rise Gold attorneys both presented their case to the board of the supervisors before the public was allowed to comment. Today, the board will listen to the remaining public comment before summary, and is then expected to adopt a resolution.
