وفي هذا الجزء الثالث يسلسل ساند العوامل والأسباب التي تجعله يقرّر أن يكفّ عن كونه يهودياً مشيراً على وجه الخصوص إلى أن التزوير وعدم الاستقامة والتبجّح صفات محفورة عميقاً في جميع أشكال تعريف اليهودية في دولة إسرائيل، وإلى أن تعريف الدولة بـأنها "يهودية"، عوضاً عن تعريفها بأنها "إسرائيلية"، ليس تعريفا غير ديمقراطي فحسب، وإنما أيضاً يشكل خطراً على مجرد وجودها وبقائها. في هذا الإطار يركّز الكاتب على أن ثمة علاقة وثيقة بين تعريف اليهود كـ "إثنوس" أو شعب ـ عرق أبدي وبين سياسة دولة إسرائيل، سواء حيال مواطنيها الذين لا يعتبرون يهوداً، أو حيال مهاجري العمل الذين قدموا إليها يائسين من شواطئ بعيدة، أو -...
