Some of us are looking forward to a holiday over the summer, or at least the chance to take things a bit easier. Some of us wish we could have a holiday, and others of us are struggling with challenges that even a week away won't fix. This week's message looks at what Jesus says about rest, real rest, rest for the soul.

Marcellus looked at Jesus’ famous words in John 5 v19 ‘he can do only what he sees his father doing’ and found he had a strange reaction to those verses. This led to looking deeper into the wonderful relationship between Jesus the Son and God the Father and how that shapes the way we read the Bible and live our lives.

Many of us are living in the midst of family relationships and workplace relationships. How can we live to honour Jesus with all the challenges these bring, and how can we support others in the church?

The Good Samaritan is one of the most famous stories that Jesus told, but there might be more to it than we think. What does it teach us about how we should show mercy to others?

What if this someone was God himself? Paul describes what this looks like for us and how we can work together to maintain what God values most.

Most Christians will say they want to be part of a healthy, thriving church.  But how could we objectively measure that, and what can we do to help make our church stronger?

The way we ‘do church’ shows a lot about what we really think and believe, regardless of what we say. How much of our involvement in church is shaped by the Bible and how much is simply a product of our western 21st Century culture? 

Jesus rising from the dead is at the heart of the Christian faith and the Christian celebration of Easter. But how can we believe that someone died and came back to life, and even that it changes life for us today? Didn't the people back in those days  believe all sorts of strange things?

No one likes feeling guilty, which is probably why we try so hard to insulate ourselves from it - rejecting or suppressing it to protect our self-esteem. But what if there is a better way that brings real freedom, but without denying our ability to do wrong?
