With something as fundamental to the Christian faith as worship you’d think that it would all be fairly straightforward. However we can sometimes end up drifting away from what it’s really all about.  Let’s go back to basics and try to avoid some of the common pitfalls...   

Jesus said things that could easily put off anyone considering becoming a Christian and worry anyone who already is. He said that people will hate you if you’re a Christian. But he also tells us, that in spite of this, why it’s still well worth it to follow him.

Christians often say that it doesn’t matter what you do or how you live - as long as you believe in Jesus you are ‘saved’. Unfortunately Jesus himself says exactly the opposite of this, and that it’s really important we understand why.

Being a parent isn’t easy, but it’s also incredibly rewarding.  The Bible frequently depicts God as a parent and can teach us a lot about how to raise our own children, and about how we relate to God himself.

Jesus told his disciples that he was going to return to heaven after his death and resurrection. He also said that he will be with them forever. How can both be true and how is Jesus with Christians today to help them?

Jesus said many things that were controversial in his day.  In this message we look at what is probably his most offensive teaching to modern ears.  Can we really accept it as true today and if so how does it help us think clearly about life, faith and God?

Most of us like to think that we are kind, loving people – however Jesus sets the standard way higher.  How loving are we really when he sets the standard – and what can we do if we find ourselves less loving than we’d thought?

How do you show love to other people and what makes you feel loved? How about taking off your friend's socks and washing their feet? Yet, this is what Jesus did for his friends and behind it lies a very important message for us about loving and serving others.

Jesus' path to the cross was completely expected at the hands of those blinded by his light. If Jesus is the light, as Christians we should be lovers of the light.

The Bible has loads to say about how we should handle our money.   We look at one of the strangest parables Jesus told to try and get a better idea of just how radical his teaching was.

Jesus is at the height of his popularity and some people want to meet him. But this gets Jesus talking about his death. Why? And what relevance does his death have for us today? Jesus gives us three things to make us stop listen and consider!

Didn't people in Bible times just believe anything in those days? Or weren't they just seeing what they expected to see? If you are sceptical about stories of people rising from the dead, you might be surprised to know that the first witnesses were sceptical too - but then everything changed.

When Jesus arrived at Jerusalem he was hailed as a hero. A week later he was dead.  And all because so much of what we see is what we expect to see, whether it’s actually there or not.

Have you ever found Christians embarrassing or off-putting?  Have you ever thought they were taking it a bit too far?  Have you ever wondered if perhaps there’s a good reason they are like that?  Maybe there is…

What's the biggest problem in this country today?  Death would certainly be high on the list. Few of us have not been saddened by, angered by or even fearful of death. Yet with an incredible miracle, Jesus shows us God's answer to the problem of death.

The Old Testament people of Israel experienced God with them in very tangible ways.  Can we know that God is with us today and what difference does that make to our lives?

Jesus speaks of himself as the Good Shepherd and his true followers as his flock of sheep. How can we challenge ourselves to look for any evidence of non-flock behaviour in our lives? Do we really know, listen to and follow Jesus?

There are many voices, influences and leaders we trust and follow in life, sometimes subconsciously. Jesus talks about himself as the Good Shepherd. Why would anyone want to trust him and follow his lead for their life?

Christians are often baffled as to why more people don’t believe.  We share the reasons we believe and our experiences of faith and yet people seem indifferent. Are we doing it wrong or is there something else going on?

Many people today believe that that true fulfilment is found in being free to be whoever you want to be - that to have your freedom restricted is necessarily to have your happiness restricted.  But what if it’s not as simple as that?
