John Wayne's Surge Protector podcast is two guys discussing the world around us on a twice weekly basis. We try to look at things that we think are huge deals and sometimes those items are also flying under the radar for a lot of other media channels. Having known each other for many years some of the jokes you hear may not come off as jokes. Keep listening and you will get in the loop soon enough as well. We have a link to leave any feedback in most of the episodes so don't hesitate to reach out.

Read the 14th Again 11.07.2026 48:53
This week's "Who Said It" comes from someone who apparently didn't get the memo that the Supreme Court is supposed to be the final word — and their response to losing a 6-3 decision is going to tell you a lot about where this episode is headed. Tesla's getting a boost from Wall Street optimism that seems blissfully unaware of what's happening in New Jersey, and SpaceX...
I'll Say It Was Rigged 08.07.2026 41:55
This week's "Who Said It" comes straight from the world of competitive sports — and the person who said it somehow manages to make winning sound just as unhinged as losing. Tesla and SpaceX are moving in very different directions this week, and the Wall Street reasoning behind one of those moves involves a comparison that tells you everything about how disconnected the analysis has...
Champagne's Already On Ice 01.07.2026 53:37
This week's "Who Said It" involves some unemployment math that is either very creative or very confused — we'll let you decide which. Tesla's making moves for reasons that sound better than they actually are, SpaceX keeps climbing in ways that have nothing to do with rockets, and the White House just launched a new financial product for kids that raises some very interesti...
F John Fetterman Forever 24.06.2026 38:47
This week's "Who Said It" comes courtesy of some very enthusiastic Australians at a very public event — and once you hear it, you'll understand why we led with it. Tesla briefly popped on merger rumors before a federal probe into a fatal FSD crash in Texas brought it right back down. Turns out murder is still bad for stock prices, even in the golden age. SpaceX meanwhile contin...
Piñata Economics 19.06.2026 42:30
This week's "Who Said It" is three words — and once you find out who said them and in what context, it reframes pretty much everything that follows. SpaceX's IPO numbers are in and they are genuinely staggering — we're talking more money raised than Saudi Aramco, Alibaba, and Facebook combined, for a company that posted losses in Q1. We break down what that actually means,...
The Breadsticks Ain't Come Out Yet 17.06.2026 51:50
This week's "Who Said It" is a prediction about Iran and negotiating skills — and depending on how you feel about recent headlines, it's either painfully accurate or about to be proven wrong in real time. Tesla's getting a boost from an unlikely source — retail investors piling in while insiders are locked out from selling — and meanwhile SpaceX just made someone the world...
1,569 Days, One Screwworm, and a Referee Stranded in Miami 12.06.2026 51:05
The episode kicks off with Trump making some eyebrow-raising comments about inflation, and the hosts break down what's actually going on with the numbers. From there, Tesla gets some time in the spotlight — the stock had an interesting day, and there's some new data out of Europe about their self-driving technology that's worth talking about. The Ukraine war hits a sobering mileston...
Too Many Jobs, Somehow Bad 10.06.2026 47:06
This week's "Who Said It" is about taxing the rich — coming from someone whose track record on that subject is going to make you spit out your coffee. We also have a bonus "Who Said It 2: Electric Boogaloo" buried in the back half that hits just as hard. Tesla is sliding again and the reason this time is genuinely wild — the job market was doing too well and that's ba...
I Would Never Have Forgotten My Drugs 05.06.2026 37:49
This week's "Who Said It" is about groceries — and the follow-up question that gets asked is the kind of thing that makes you put your phone down for a second. Tesla keeps doing Tesla things, but if you followed our war portfolio advice, you're having a much better week. There's "progress" being made in Lebanon while the strikes continue, and the defense stocks t...
An Organic Revolution of 53 Russians 03.06.2026 48:38
This week's "Who Said It" is about qualifications — and once we tell you who said it and who they were talking about, the irony is going to hit like a freight train. Tesla slides back down and there's a new reason on the horizon that connects directly to Elon's well-documented habit of abandoning a pond once other fish show up. Meta fired 8,000 people and their AI support...
Flushels Has a Plan 28.05.2026 32:48
This week's "Who Said It" comes from someone who is very confident they have the evidence — despite not being a doctor — and once you hear who it is, the rest of the episode will make a lot more sense. Tesla is back up and a Wall Street investor has a theory about why — and we're going to be very polite about how wrong it is. Tesla is also threatening to sue the Canadian provin...
The Hype Video Nobody Asked For 22.05.2026 35:22
This week's "Who Said It" comes courtesy of the Bloodhound Gang — and if you know the song, you already know where this episode is going tonally. First up, a very important listener beef gets addressed — Boston J has some strong feelings about poutine and gravy rights, and we have some even stronger feelings back. Tesla ticks up on the SpaceX IPO filing, but once you actually read w...
174k Isn't Enough 20.05.2026 47:21
This week's "Who Said It" is five words that aged about as well as a no-bid contract — and by the end of the episode, you'll know exactly who said them and why that's so funny. Tesla slides back down and Wall Street is starting to ask the question that Tesla owners probably don't want to hear — what happens when the guy in charge has a shinier new toy? Elon posted som...
The Man Getting Paid in Rubles 13.05.2026 38:26
This week's "Who Said It" is directed squarely at a very specific type of keyboard warrior, and we promise it lands perfectly given what's in the news this week. Tesla's having a week — the Cybertruck is back in recall territory for a reason that's going to make you think twice about hard cornering, and Elon posted something on X that was deleted by morning but not be...
The Basement Nobody Asked For 08.05.2026 36:57
This week's "Who Said It" involves the ocean — or is it "see" like vision? Either way, someone very important has some very confident statistics about it, and we start there. Tesla is pushing past $400 despite a recall on 220,000 cars — and the way Tesla handles recalls versus every other automaker is actually worth a conversation. There's also a trademark filing that...
Apologies on the feedback, its bad 05.05.2026 30:56
This week's "Who Said It" is a business quote that aged in a very funny direction — once you find out who said it and what happened next, you'll understand why we opened with it. Tesla's back on the move and this time there's actually something real behind it — the first Tesla Semi rolled off the line with some genuinely impressive specs. We break down the numbers, wh...
Chinooks Don't Recline 29.04.2026 36:39
This week's "Who Said It" is about a ballroom — and once you hear who said it and why, the rest of the episode starts to make a lot more sense. Elon just got a $114 billion payday courtesy of the courts, and we actually have some thoughts on this one that might surprise you. Ukraine hit the Tuapse oil refinery for the third time — Putin had some environmental concerns to share about...
The Zoom Call of the Year 24.04.2026 41:17
This week's "Who Said It" is a blast from the past — and honestly, given everything going on right now, it hits a little different in hindsight. Tesla beat Wall Street's revenue estimate by a hair, but the CFO immediately followed that up with some news about spending that sent the stock right back down — and we explain exactly what that means for a company trying to reinvent i...
Nothing Alarming Yet 21.04.2026 36:33
This week's "Who Said It" might be the most surprising one yet — and once we tell you, you're going to have some feelings about it. Tesla's earnings call is tomorrow and the numbers floating around don't quite line up with a company valued at over a trillion dollars. We break down what Wall Street is projecting, what Tesla itself is projecting, and why those two numbe...
Read the Room (And the Bible) 17.04.2026 41:00
Three "Who Said It" quotes to kick things off this week — one political, one philosophical, and one that involves a roadkill raccoon on the interstate. Good luck placing all three. Tesla pops nearly 8% on news that, once you actually read it, is not good news — and we break down exactly why the math doesn't add up. Plus a cautionary tale about a shoe company that discovered the magi...
Pay Us Enough To Live 14.04.2026 32:26
We open with a quote this week — and trust us, you're going to want to guess who said it before we tell you. Tesla gets a so-called "upgrade" that, once you read what it actually means, raises more questions than it answers — including what happens when the company's biggest bet doesn't scale. The Easter ceasefire came and went, and both sides have the receipts — nearly 4,...
The Ceasefire That Wasn't 10.04.2026 44:27
Tesla ticks up slightly but there's a bigger supply chain story lurking underneath that the tech world hasn't fully reckoned with yet — and it connects to everything happening in the Middle East right now. Ukraine meanwhile is having a very productive week in places Russia thought were safe. JD Vance is still on his European tour and sits down for an interview that goes about as well as...
We Don't Have a Plan 07.04.2026 40:08
Tesla keeps sliding and now one of Wall Street's biggest names is throwing out a number that's going to make a lot of owners very uncomfortable. Ukraine, meanwhile, is proving it doesn't take a day off — just when Russia thought a key oil terminal was back in business, Kyiv had other plans. A bombshell report drops about a certain European leader and what he allegedly told Putin beh...
The Art of the Fumble 02.04.2026 43:51
Tesla's taking another hit and the reasons behind it are raising some familiar questions. Meanwhile Russia is pulling off moves that are making a certain "blockade" look more like a suggestion than a policy — and they're apparently just getting started. On the war front, things take a wild turn when someone with a very clear agenda decides to bomb the guy in charge of peace tal...
The Blockade, the Bomber, and the Gift Cards 31.03.2026 43:20
Tesla's back in the news and the stock is making moves — but is the reason behind the jump as solid as it sounds? This week also brings some eyebrow-raising developments on the Russia front, including a tanker that somehow sailed right through a blockade with a very casual White House response. Ukraine's drone campaign is still putting in work, and there's a grim anniversary this we...
