Junction One Church

'Behold I am doing a new thing do you not perceive it'. This week we focus on revival. Our hearts desire is that God will come down and revive his church and we become faithful witnesses to his love and grace.

We begin the new term at Junction One reflecting on our vision as a church to reach people with the Good News of Jesus. Isaiah Chapter 43 is our inspiration for this vision. We will look at it in two parts.

The message today is from John's gospel chapter 3. Nicodemus is curious to find out more about Jesus who had caused a stir amongst the people in Jerusalem. He comes to see him at night and Jesus speaks to him about his and our real need.

In the story of the death and resurrection of Lazarus, Jesus looks towards his own sacrifice on the cross and his victory over death. I am the resurrection and the life the one who believes in me will live even though they die and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.

Jon Catling shares a message from Ecclesiastes chapter 1. This book of the Bible speaks directly into the narrative of our current age and culture. Meaning and purpose are to found but in one place only.

At Junction One Church we go back to the book of Acts to pick up on the story of the new church. In today's episode from Acts chapter 4 we see how all the believers were of one heart and soul. When we believe in Jesus the Holy Spirit makes us 'soul-mates' so no one is left out and even our deepest needs are met.

We come to the final leg of our Journey with Jonah. Jonah calls out to God that he might die but God's amazing grace and mercy, that had been directed to the city of Nineveh is to reach Jonah also. Jonah had gone to Nineveh to deliver the message that the city is to destroyed in forty days. The people, from the greatest to the least, had responded and turned away from evil. Jonah hears the word of the LORD for a second time and this time he goes to the great city of Nineveh. He delivers a five word message of God's judgement and there is an amazing response. From the greatest to the least the people of Nineveh believe God and turn from their evil and violent ways. God's judgement is designed to lead us to mercy and grace.

Jonah is entombed in the belly of the great fish but he cries out to the LORD and his prayer is heard. The story of Jonah shows us that when we reach rock bottom and have no where to go, God is not far from us and he hears our cries.

In our journey with the prophet Jonah we come to the place where Jonah is swallowed by the 'great fish'. Many of us have found ourselves caught and trapped by circumstances confining and imprisoning us but God's plan is to bring us to a spacious place. From the belly of the fish Jonah calls out to God.

We continue our series 'Journey with Jonah' as the boat in which Jonah is fleeing from God faces a great storm. Jonah the resentful prophet is pursued by a relentless God.

In our series on the Old Testament book of Jonah we will go on a journey with the prophet as he responds to God's call to go and speak God's message to the people living in Nineveh. There is so much that we can learn and apply to our own generation and situation. God cares deeply for his creation and his plan is to bring salvation through his one and only Son.

Richard Birch from Cardiff shares a message from 1 Corinthians chapter 12 vs 3; 'No one can say Jesus is Lord except in the Holy Spirit'. It is the Holy Spirit who is at work in us and through us.
