There are plenty of people waiting for the Gospel, but if the risen one is not present among us, we will not draw anyone to the Church. It is not the lack of fish but the absence of Jesus that is the problem. (John 21:1-14)

At the centre of today's Gospel is the proclamation of "repentance for the forgiveness of sins" (Luke 24:47). This is the commission of the risen Jesus to the Church. (Luke 24:35-48)

The Gospel is full of people who are depressed. Life did not have anything to offer. And things would go on that way if not for one person whom they met at a certain stage of their lives: Jesus of Nazareth. (Luke 24:13-35).
