98. Talks about the origins of Japanese manga. 17.07.2024

The origins of Japanese manga actually date back 800 years. In emaki (picture scrolls) drawn during the Heian and Kamakura periods, we can see techniques that lead to today's manga. One theory is that they were inspired by British satirical comics, but after doing some research, I think that they probably originally had the same conceptual power that is depicted in manga.

The Jaws movie I saw as a child scared me so much that it still traumatizes me and I can't swim in the ocean. I wonder how people who surf can go that far. The thought of sharks in the ocean scares me so much that I can't bring myself to swim in the ocean.

Radio may be considered outdated in this day and age. However, podcasts and e-books with audio features have been greatly influenced by radio. I think that the culture of getting information by listening with the ears was created by radio.

In Japan, an event called Tanabata (Star Festival) is held on July 7, where people write their wishes on long, thin strips of paper called tanzaku and tie them to bamboo leaves. This is one of the most common summer customs in Japan. In some areas, Tanabata festivals are held from July to August.
