Punk poet icon Don Fletcher-Park is enjoying a quiet drink in his local pub when a mysterious stranger gives him an even more mysterious book to deliver to his colleague Mervin... or so he supposes. What unfolds when Mervin reads from the book is yet more mysterious still and threatens the very safety of our dimension... or something... probably... Can they travel beyond time and space and return...

Mervin has been commissioned to write a poem to commemorate the local zoo and has brought his friend and fellow poet Don Fletcher Park with him. But something ails Carruthers, the prize of the big cat collection, and animals begin to disappear.
