Colossians doesn’t end with a random list of names. It ends by showing how the gospel forms a community of friendship, partnership, kingdom vision, and faithfulness.

Paul has nearly finished his letter. What final advice does he want to give this band of believers in Colossae? How are they going to make sure that others hear of Christ? He calls them to prayer for those in the front line and to engage with the community around them.

Because Christians have died and been raised with Christ, their true life is now found securely in Him rather than in the temporary things of this world. As we look forward to Christ's return and our lives in Him, we should allow these truths to shape our lives now.

Rules. Experiences. Self-discipline. They can all look spiritual—but they don't change the heart. Colossians 2 points us back to what actually transforms us: being rooted in Christ—and transformed from the inside out.
