The Simpsons become winter caretakers at Mr Burns' mountain mansion, where Homer is driven mad by the lack of beer and TV. Marge is met with surprising success when she plays matchmaker for Homer's father and her mother, until Mr Burns decides to swoop Mrs Bouvier off her feet.

Bart is the only witness when Mayor Quimby's nephew Freddy is falsely accused of assaulting a French butler, but testifying at the trial means admitting that he was skipping school.

Homer decides to become Flanders' new best friend after attending a football game with him. However, his overbearing behavior soon sends Ned crazy.

Homer and Barney are recruited by NASA to make it more appealing to the man in the street, and when Barney falls off the wagon, Homer is chosen to go into space.

Lisa decides Malibu Stacy dolls set a bad example to girls, so she pleads with their creator, Stacy Lovell, to design a positive role model doll.

Apu loses the Kwik-E-Mart when he poisons Homer, so he moves in with the Simpsons as their personal chef and valet before Homer accompanies him to the Himalayas to visit the first ever Kwik-E-Mart in search of enlightenment. Meanwhile, back in Springfield, James Woods takes over at the Kwik-E-Mart.

Bart Simpson has a taste of showbiz when he sneaks onto the `Krusty the Clown Show' sound stage and lands himself a job as Krusty's assistant.

Fed up with Springfield's police force's ineffectiveness, Homer forms a vigilante group to catch a cat burglar.

Marge becomes addicted to the slot machines in Mr. Burns' new casino, where Homer gets a job as a blackjack dealer. Elsewhere, Bart opens his own casino in the treehouse while Mr. Burns slowly goes mad in his penthouse, letting his nails and hair grow and wearing tissue boxes as slippers.

Homer worries about his marriage to Marge when he begins falling for Mindy Simmons, a gorgeous nuclear plant worker who loves doughnuts, beer, and being lazy just as much as Homer does.

Bart and Milhouse go on an all-syrup squishee bender, after which Bart awakes with a massive hangover and the memory of embarrassing himself by joining the junior campers. He decides not to quit when he finds out they get to use pocketknives, and sets off to camp, with the embarrassing - and dangerous - Homer in tow.

In a bid to alter his rebellious behavior, Homer and Marge take Bart to see a self-help guru but it backfires when the guru uses Bart as an example of how everyone should behave.

Marge goes to the ballet with Ruth Powers. The two end up spending time together, leading to a Thelma-and-Louise-style run from the police after Ruth confesses that she stole her ex-husband's car.

In spite of being obscenely rich, Mr. Burns can never be truly happy without his childhood teddy bear, Bobo, who Bart finds in a bag of ice and gives to Maggie. Homer spots a chance to ingratiate himself with his boss, but can he upset his daughter to do it?

Homer has to go to university to study nuclear physics because he's unqualified for his job of safety inspector at the nuclear power plant. At university, he convinces his new nerd friends to join him in an elaborate prank that backfires spectacularly.
