We spent the first part of the service talking about our future and what God is currently doing within our church family. We normally do not post these meetings, but inclement weather kept about half of our church family away. We are posting this to help keep our entire church family updated on what God is doing.

John reminds us that a life of Fellowship is a life of confidence and assurance. This is produced when we obey and please God on a daily basis. It is the result of a life that is genuinely abiding in Christ.

John reminds us that Satan is at work to get us to question our faith and our desire to follow God. It is important that we examine our lives before God, and assure our hearts before God. John wants each of us to be assured that we are people of "the truth".

John encourages us to look at how we see the world. We should not love just with our words, but with our life. A true believer does not harbor hatred in his heart because his heart is filled with the Love of God and there is no room for hatred.

A believers life is marked by righteousness. Sin does not characterize his life. As a believer he seeks to follow the "righteous one". "That one" came to destroy the works of the devil and the power of sin. If we are genuinely born of God, our lives will resemble Christ because we will take on the characteristics of our father who adopted us into his family.

The Christmas story reminds us of the importance of responding to God when he directs and leads us. The result of obedience is that God provides and knows what is best. His timing and ways are not ours. Trust and follow Him wholeheartedly this week.

Jeremiah 46-52 = God may be asking something difficult from you. Be obedient. God will be patient with each of us, but He has drawn a line. Allow Him to use you and stay faithful no matter what the cost.

Jeremiah 40 - 45 = God wants His children to be people of discernment. Test and try things to see whether they are from God or satan. Decide now - you will honor God no matter what the world or the culture says. In the end, God will honor that. If you choose to ignore God, you do so to your own peril.
