We return to our timeline with a discussion of the origin of the Mongols and the Great Kahn. We also mention how perspective and new information make a difference.

New voices for reform in the church arise in the 11th and 12th centuries. Topics discussed here include heresy, mendicant orders, Bernard of Clairvaux, Francis of Assisi, and Dominic of Osma.

After discussing how the sacraments of the church were an essential part of life in the Middle Ages, we hear about the encounter of Gregory VII and Henry IV. Then we look at movements in the East and Pilgrimages in preparation for our next big event/topic.
