Hillside Church Messages

"But now you also, lay them all aside: wrath, anger, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth." Colossians 3:8. We are challenged through this sermon to lay anger aside and pursue becoming a patient person. Jesus words and ways lead us to the abundant life: fully of peace, love, and joy.

"Envy is pain over the good fortune of others." John of Damascus (d.749) Sunday we discussed the Blind Spot of envy. Scriptures include: Genesis 4 (Cain and Abel), James 3:16, Matthew 20:15, and John 21:21-22.

Part one of our new series: Blind spots. Scripture focus is James chapter 4 verse 1 which says, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?”

In this sermon we visit the response and heart of the Father in the Prodigal parable. It is representation of God's heart to each of us: full of unconditional love.

In this message we look at the older brother in the Prodigal story. Luke 15 is our Scripture as we revisit the parable of the lost sons. We hope you are encouraged and equipped in your journey with God and others.

Josh Rohl does a wonderful job preaching through the youngest son and his story in the Prodigal parable. Luke 15:11-24.

Enjoy the first message in our new series: The Prodigal. Luke 15:1-2 are the Scriptures for this message. We hope you are encouraged and equipped in your walk with God.

We are so grateful for this powerful message from guest speaker: Deon Parker. Scriptures are Judges 4 & 5. We hope you are encouraged and equipped by the message.

Enjoy our Dangerous Prayer "send me." Scriptures for this sermon are Romans 10:13-15 & Isaiah 6, and the message includes a special quote by Pete Greig from the 24/7 prayer movement. We hope our lives testify to what Paul says in Romans 10:15  "How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!"

Enjoy this message as we continue our Dangers Prayers series. This sermon is rooted in a moment Jesus had in John 5 as He brought healing to a man at the pool of Bethesda.

Our Dangerous Prayers series continues with Search Me from 139:23-24. We are encouraged to invite the Holy Spirit to search us, examine our motives, and the direction of our life.

In this dangerous prayer we discover the command of Jesus to bless our enemies.  We are challenged to prayerfully bless and treat our enemies as God has so generously treated, and loved us. Matthew 5:40-48.

Prayers that move us beyond comfort and convenience into the great adventure of following God, and surrendering our lives to Him.  Enjoy the first installment of our dangerous prayer series with: "Yes, Lord."
