Wow another year is done and dusted and I reflect back on 2023 and look ahead to what I want to do in 2024.

As a new year is already upon us, I look back to my past and make an interesting discovery about my net worth and talk about the financial guilt and shame that still plagued me years after repaying student loan debt.

We’ve all hopped on that crypto bandwagon and we’ve all read about FTX’s collapse as a crypto exchange and its bankruptcy proceedings. I use Enron’s collapse as a canary in the coal mine looking back at what happened in the Dot Com bubble and speak my mind on the $10K forgiveness the Biden admin promised borrowers & voters but of course has fallen short (yet again).

Capitalized interest has been the most profitable way that the federal government has been able to collect on the student loans they’ve serviced. And no one ever tells you this - until it’s too late. In this episode, I unpack my experience with repaying an extra $30,000 of capitalized interest and how I was able to eventually get ahead and get on the road to repaying my student loan debt.

The most strategic way you can tackle your debt is to use either the debt snowball or debt avalanche methods - I explain what those are and how the debt snowball method worked for me on my debt free journey. Student borrowers with federal student loan debt may receive some relief in the coming months. Although I repaid my debt in 2018, I detail what I would do if I still had the debt and ways to get serious and tactical about repaying student loan debt.

It’s been two months since my last post and, of course, a lot has changed! I talk about my next endeavor: adding real estate to our portfolio with hopes of generating passive income for the future.
