What is the light that we want others to see? That light is to be the Word of God. We ought to share the truth and mark the truth.

The ministry of parables is part of the ministry of the servant. We all ought to learn how to use parables to disseminate the Truth of the Word of God.

The sowing of the servant has two aspects. It requires listening to the Word and sending the Word out. We are responsible to give out that which we have taken in from the Word.

Christ is not disrespecting his earthly family. He is showing the supremacy of the family of God over the family of man. This family is made up of those who do the will of God.

Opposition to Christ came from both friends and foes. The same is true for believers today as opposition arises from both friend and foe.

The disciples were called, chosen, and changed. The same applies to believers today. We are called, chosen, and changed through Christ.

Christ was different than any man who ever lived. He made an impact on many, and continues to do so because of His sacrifice for our sins.

Jesus took the gospel to the lost. Today, we are to go out and get the gospel to those who are lost and in need of it. True religion is going out with compassion to bring the lost to Jesus.

The servant needs a sabbath, a day of rest. God teaches us through Creation to work six days and rest one day. Though we are not under the Sabbath, it is important for us today to take a day of rest.

We see God as the Father throughout Scripture, beginning at Creation. It is important that we know and understand the Fatherhood of God. He is our example of what a father is to be to his children.

Jesus Christ has the power to completely change lives. In this passage, we find four ways that Jesus can change our lives.

Jesus Christ impacts Levi with His reaching out to him. We too, as followers of Christ, are to reach out to the lost to lead them to repentance.

The price of freedom is blood. This is no truer fulfillment of this than in the freedom we have from our sin through the blood of Jesus Christ.

Forgiveness for sins is only through Christ. But to receive this forgiveness, you must first go to Christ in faith. Christ does not condemn the sinner when He comes, He graciously forgives and washes the sinners sins away.

Christ, the servant of God, gives us a glorious example of forgiveness. There is much we as believers can learn from this example.

Jesus preached the gospel of the kingdom of God. The gospel is integral in the life and witness of every believer.

The Lord Jesus begins his ministry preaching the gospel. The public preaching of the gospel was integral to the ministry of Christ.

Christ was driven by the Spirit into the wilderness. This showed His submission to be Spirit-driven. He is our example to be ministers for Christ.

Truly, we can put ourselves in the place of the thieves on the cross. For we were all born sinners in need of salvation through Christ.

Mark is presenting Jesus to us as a servant. As a servant, Christ was baptized to identify with the ministry of John the Baptist and the ministry of God the Father.

John the Baptist was a messenger preceding Christ. We can learn from him how to be a proper messenger for Christ.

The believer is to be established in the gospel. It is the gospel that is the basis of the doctrine which we live by.

These different men all were fellow helpers with Paul. Each one teaches us ways that we should be helping each other in the ministry of Jesus Christ.

To properly mark disorderly brethren requires knowledge and understanding. Once these are had, it must be applied in wisdom.

Phebe was a sister to Paul and a servant of the church. Believers today need to be fellow helpers in the ministry of Christ.
