The law of love is a supreme law, as explained by Jesus. It is supreme because it is comprehensive, compelling, and consequential. When we fail to love God and love our neighbor, there will be grave consequences.

God is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. The resurrection is a reality and is a cornerstone of the faith.

As believers, we are to pray for our government leaders and hold them in respect. The Jewish leaders did not want to do this, but held false views on their relationship with the state.

The parable Jesus gives us of the wicked husbandmen clearly shows us elements of his character. It is important for us to know God's character so that we can know God.

Christ has been explained and shown to be the long awaited Messiah. The religious leaders choose to refuse to accept Him as such. The choice remains for all men today.

The tree did not produce fruit, neither does the believer have power in his own life. The believer does not have the power, and therefore does not have the fruit, because he does not have the faith to pray.

The temple was central to the worship of God in Israel and was to be God's. The believer's body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, and we ought to bringing glory and honor to God with our body.

The phrase, Abba Father, really speaks of His fatherhood over us and the necessity of obedience to Him. The Lord is our Father, and it is the believer's responsibility to obey Him.

Christ is teaching an important lesson by cursing the fig tree. God's will is that believer's bear fruit and glorify Him through it.

Christ the King enters the city of Jerusalem according to Old Testament prophecy. He is the King of peace, of power, of salvation, of obedience, and of seclusion.

When we are blind spiritually, we are not spiritually whole. This wholeness will only come about through trusting Christ for your eternal salvation.

Ambition is not a bad thing. But there is a wrong ambition and there is a right ambition. The servant of the Lord's ambition should be to bring glory and honor of God.

There are differences of opinion in how to view children. Our view should be shaped by our faith in God's Word.

Christ gives us the example of determination that we are to follow as His servants. We ought also to be determined to do the Father's will.

Should a servant be rewarded for those things we ought to do? The Lord shows us that He will reward us for faithfulness to obey Him.

Jesus asks all men to forsake all and follow Him. The principle here applies beyond wealth to any thing that keeps men from following him.

The Rich Young Ruler was a good man who was dependable, conscientious, and responsible. But good deeds cannot earn eternal life with Jesus Christ. Salvation can only be gained by faith in Jesus Christ.

The Resurrection has to deal with the body. Without the body there would be no resurrection. There is no death of Christ without his first becoming flesh.

The basic purpose of Palm Sunday was to proclaim Jesus Christ as King. Christ is King and has proven so.

Just as there is a necessary commitment in a marriage, there is a necessary commitment to serving God. Without this commitment, a believer cannot adequately serve God.

The example a believer gives is not to be taken lightly. The seriousness of a bad example is given here in Mark 9.

There are reasons for intolerance, but it is very easy to fall into the errors of intolerance. The believer must be careful to walk according to Jesus' conditions for tolerance.

Ambition is not wrong to have as long as we have it in the right direction. It must be rightly directed towards the things of God.

As the Lord moves towards Jerusalem and the cross, he begins to focus more on his disciples, preparing them for His death. His death was a necessary offering because of man's sin, but the disciples weren't quite ready for it or wanting of it.

Here in Mark 9 there are four characters who are spiritually immature and powerless. The only way to overcome these weaknesses is through the Lord Jesus Christ.
