Hawkeye Talk with Jimmy Hawk

My one Mac story and remembering the legend. The Hawkeyes played brilliantly on offense led by Jordan Bohannon’s 10 three point makes and Keegan Murray’s ridiculously efficient 30 points on 12 of 14 shooting at Maryland. Iowa gets back to .500 with a road win, breaking the arena record with 110 points in a 110-87 victory.

Caitlin Clark had another amazing performance on the road against the Wolverines. Assistant Billy Taylor led Iowa to a win and a season sweep of the Gophers with a 12 point home win. There are nine regular season games left and a lot of opportunities to improve the post-season resume.

It was a rough loss for the Hawkeyes against Penn State on Saturday, and a win over the Gophers on Sunday is vital for this team to stay relevant. The Hawkeyes got a new football recruit, and Hawkeye wrestling is a must watch for any Hawkeye fan.

Iowa struggled on offense against the Boilers. Three point shooting continues to hurt the Hawkeyes. The Boilers shot lights out from three and from two. Kris Murray continues to look better and better and needs more minutes going forward.

Keegan Murray led the Hawkeyes in scoring, and Kris Murray was second with 13 points off the bench. The Hawkeyes got back to .500 in the league at 4-4. After a rough first half of rebounding, the Hawkeyes dominated the boards in the second half to secure the home league win.

The Iowa Hawkeyes beat Indiana at home and Minnesota on the road at the Barn to move to .500 in conference play. The trip to New Jersey did not go as planned with a lid on the basket and the Hawkeyes losing 48-46. Three point shooting is becoming a concern for the Hawkeyes.

The Hawkeyes travelled to Madison on Thursday and fell to 1-3 in the B1G after being out rebounded by an incredible number once again. Keegan Murray with another amazing game, and Brad Davison was Bad Brad Davison again. Please don’t give him another year of eligibility!

The Hawkeyes needed a win after starting 0-2 in the B1G and got that win on Monday against Maryland. Danny Manning’s squad put up a fight but the Hawkeyes were able to get in the win column in conference play. Next up…the dreaded Badgers with the worst style of play in America. Let’s get to .500!!

The Hawkeyes offense struggled in the first half with not enough emphasis on running the ball. The second half saw a comeback to take the lead 17-13, but the Hawkeyes ended the game on two three and out drives and gave up a big play to Wan’Dale Robinson. Special teams didn’t do anything spectacular in this game, and the Hawkeyes lost the turnover battle against a team with one of the worst turnove...

Iowa hosted Western Michigan for its last non-conference game prior to resuming B1G play. The Hawkeyes advanced to 10-3 with Maryland up next. Danny Manning will be coaching the Terps as interim coach for Maryland. Who will be QB on Saturday???

The Iowa Hawkeyes face the Kentucky in the Citrus Bowl! Kentucky is 9-3 but also had a soft schedule. Georgia is the only other good team in the SEC East, and the Wildcats played multiple directional and state schools. A former Hawkeye player faces the Hawkeyes as a head coach once again. Let’s get win 11!!

Fran’s Hawkeyes beat Southeastern Louisiana by 31, and the rebounding looked good again. Now a nice holiday break for the team. Swarm22 includes eight offensive players with likely more to come.

Fran’s Hawkeyes traveled to Ames to face the Cyclones who won two games during the 2020-2021 basketball season. This Cyclones team has a new coach, pretty much a whole new roster thanks to the transfer portal, and they are undefeated and ranked. Tyler Linderbaum is a consensus All-American and other football news. X marks the spot in Iowa City!

The Hawkeyes made it to the championship game against the Wolverines but couldn’t get into the end zone. The basketball team traveled to #2 Purdue and hosted the Illini at Carver but couldn’t get wins. It’s the Citrus Bowl for the Hawkeyes against Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats. This young basketball team has big games coming up.

Incredible weekend coming up with the Hawkeyes playing for the B1G Championship game against the Wolverines. Jordan Bohannon and Keegan Murray led the Hawks to a road win against Virginia. #2 Purdue is up next for Iowa. Several Hawks won all B1G awards for contributions to this 10-2 football regular season.

Iowa took some lumps but beat the Huskers for the 7th time in a row. Frosty is officially 3-9 in his fourth year and the Huskers are letting him try again. Wow. Fran’s squad advanced to 6-0 and big time games are coming up.

Iowa destroyed Western Michigan on Monday with the bench contributing over 60 points in the game. The Hawkeyes football team travels to Lincoln to face the Frosty Huskers on Friday. How will Nebraska do against Iowa with a true freshman backup QB? His quarterback coach was fired a few weeks ago…and has passed 11 times this season.

Illinois came to Iowa City looking for its first win in the Hawkeye state since 1999 and fell short again. Illinois went air raid with a quarterback that can’t throw well and one of the best running backs in the league. Result: Illinois loses again.

The Hawkeyes football team face the Fighting Illini on Saturday without head coach and former Hawkeye Brett Bielema. Fran McCaffrey’s basketball squad had two high scoring wins this week against NC Central and Alabama State.

The Iowa Hawkeyes beat the Golden Gophers for the 7th time in a row. Iowa has won 8 of 9 in that series and bacon is good. Iowa has not lost to Minnesota since 1999 in Iowa City! Fran has assembled a fun, young basketball team in Iowa City!!

The Iowa Hawkeyes face the Golden Gophers on Saturday with Floyd of Rosedale at stake. Floyd has been in Iowa so long he’s considered a resident and never wants to leave beautiful Iowa City. Hawkeye basketball looked good against an out-manned Longwood team, led by Keegan Murray.

Iowa beat Northwestern to move to 7-2 on the football season. Alex Padilla filled in for a struggling Spencer Petras who was battling an injury. Fran McCaffery’s basketball team played an exhibition game against Slippery Rock on Friday. It’s an athletic basketball team that will be fun to watch.

After two disappointing losses with lackluster offensive performances, can the Hawkeyes get back on track and win a seventh game against a struggling Northwestern Wildcats team? Northwestern’s defense is not up to its usual standards this year, and this could be a big week for the Iowa offense.

Iowa’s offense could only muster seven points again on Saturday against the Badgers, and Iowa drops another game to a division foe. Four more games are coming up against border rivals, and the Hawkeyes need to get the offense going, or this season is in jeopardy!
