Hamden Catholic Homily: July 5, 2026 05.07.2026 8:26
Today is July 5, 2026 - the 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrants were Fr. Gustavo Lopez and Deacon Ronald Gurr. This week's readings reveal a Messiah unlike any earthly conqueror - meek, just, and victorious, riding not into battle but on a humble donkey. Drawing from the prophet Zechariah and Christ's own words in the Gospel - "Come to me, all who are burdened...", - thi...
Hamden Catholic Homily: June 21, 2026 21.06.2026 6:20
In today's Gospel, Jesus speaks words we all need to hear - "Do not be afraid." Not once, but three times because He knows how often we need reminding. Whatever fear you're carrying today about your past, your future, your struggles, or your worth, know that you are deeply known, deeply loved, and never alone. You are more than your mistakes. More than your fears. More than what...
Hamden Catholic Homily: June 14, 2026 16.06.2026 9:49
Today is June 14, 2026 - the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrant was Fr. Christopher Tiano. In this Sunday's homily, Fr. Tiano reflects on one of the most freeing truths of the Christian faith: our salvation is not something we earn - it's something we receive. Drawing from St. Paul's Letter to the Romans, Fr. Tiano unpacks the difference between active and passive voice to rev...
Hamden Catholic Homily: May 31, 2026 31.05.2026 12:34
Today is May 31, 2026 - the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity. Our celebrant was Monsignor Joseph Donnelly. Who is God? On the Feast of the Holy Trinity, we explore that timeless question through the story of Saint Augustine on the shore and what it means to stand before a sacred mystery too vast for any of us to fully grasp. Drawing on the three readings for today's feast, we trace our experienc...
Hamden Catholic Homily: May 24, 2026 24.05.2026 4:07
Today is May 24, 2026 - Pentecost Sunday. Our celebrants were Fr. Gustavo Lopez and Deacon Dominic Carraro. As we celebrate Pentecost - the birthday of the Catholic Church - we reflect on the gift of the Holy Spirit and what it means for our lives today. Each of us has been given unique gifts from the same Spirit, and each of us is called to proclaim Jesus as Lord through our words, actions, and c...
Hamden Catholic Homily: May 10, 2026 11.05.2026 5:08
Today is May 10, 2026 - the 6th Sunday of Easter. Our celebrants were Fr. Jorge Castro and Deacon Dominic Corraro. As we approach the end of the Easter season and draw near to Pentecost, this week's Gospel brings us a powerful and personal message from Jesus: "If you love me, keep my commandments." In today's homily, we reflect on what it truly means to love - not just in beautif...
Hamden Catholic Homily: May 3, 2026 03.05.2026 7:57
Today is May 3, 2026, the 5th Sunday of Easter. Our celebrants were Fr. Matthew Schneider and Deacon Ronald Gurr. In this homily, Father reflects on our universal longing for "more" - more comfort, more security, more meaning - and asks the deeper question: what truly satisfies? Drawing from John's Gospel and Jesus' declaration "I am the way, the truth, and the life," t...
Hamden Catholic Homily: April 26, 2026 26.04.2026 8:35
Today is April 26, 2026, the 4th Sunday of Easter. Our celebrants were Fr. Jorge Castro and Deacon Dominic Carraro. "The Lord is my shepherd. There is nothing I shall want." On the Fourth Sunday of Easter - Good Shepherd Sunday - we reflect on one of the most beloved images in all of Scripture: Jesus as the Good Shepherd, and we as the sheep of His flock. In today's homily, we explor...
Hamden Catholic Homily: April 19, 2026 19.04.2026 7:53
Today is April 19, 2026, the 3rd Sunday of Easter. Our celebrant was Fr. Lee Hellwig. Have you had your own Emmaus moment? That turning point when faith stops being something you practice and becomes something you live. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we may begin confused, searching, and trying to make sense of things on our own. But when we invite the Lord to remain with us, our eyes a...
Hamden Catholic Homily: April 5, 2026 06.04.2026 8:01
Today is April 5, 2026, Easter Sunday! Our celebrants were Fr. Chris Tiano and Deacon Ronald Gurr. “I am forgotten, like the unremembered dead… I am like a dish that is broken.” It’s powerful imagery because in one way or another, we are all broken. But the message of Easter is that Christ doesn’t reject our brokenness - He embraces it. Through His death and resurrection, we are transformed from s...
Hamden Catholic Homily: March 8, 2026 08.03.2026 7:45
Today is March 8, 2026, the 3rd Sunday of Lent. Our celebrants were Fr. Lee Hellwig and Deacon Dominic Corraro. Jesus met the Samaritan woman in the ordinary moments of her day - at the well where she went to draw water. He met her not as she should have been, but exactly as she was: in her brokenness, hesitation, and resistance. The same is true for us. The Lord meets us in our daily lives and pa...
Hamden Catholic Homily: February 8, 2026 10.02.2026 7:39
Today is February 8, 2026, the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrants were Fr. Lee Hellwig and Deacon Dominic Corraro. Jesus doesn’t say we might become salt and light someday - He says we are. Salt preserves and brings flavor. Light brightens even the darkest room. When our lives are shaped by the Beatitudes, we help preserve what is best in the world and add a little divine flavor where it’...
Hamden Catholic Homily: February 1, 2026 01.02.2026 13:43
Today is February 1, 2026, the 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrants were Fr. Chris Tiano and Deacon Ronald Gurr. In this homily, Fr. Tiano reflects on our complicated relationship with phones, comfort, and consumerism, and contrasts it with Jesus’ radical message in the Beatitudes. In a world that equates blessing with wealth, power, and the “latest iPhone,” Jesus points us in the opposite...
Hamden Catholic Homily: January 25, 2026 28.01.2026 9:43
Today is January 25, 2026, the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrant was the Most Reverend Christopher J. Coyne, Archbishop of Hartford. From the first Mass in 1852 at a local home to the vibrant community of St. Paul VI Parish today, our history is written in the sacraments of the people of Hamden, Connecticut. In his homily, Archbishop Coyne reminds us that wherever you are in your journey,...
Hamden Catholic Homily: January 18, 2026 18.01.2026 7:48
Today is January 18, 2026, the 2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrants were Fr. Gustavo Lopez and Deacon Ronald Gurr. We’re all given a role by God, just as Isaiah, Paul, and John the Baptist each lived out theirs. Today’s homily invites us to pause, listen, and discern what God may be asking of us right now. When we lean in, listen, and learn, we become more aware of the small, everyday oppor...
Hamden Catholic Homily: January 11, 2026 11.01.2026 7:50
Today is January 11, 2026, the Baptism of the Lord. Our celebrant was Fr. Chris Tiano. What looks like a simple event - Jesus being baptized in the Jordan - is actually a profound theological mystery. It is the moment where the Trinity is revealed: the Father’s voice, the Son’s embrace of our humanity, and the descent of the Holy Spirit. In his homily, Fr. Tiano explores how Jesus receiving the Sp...
Hamden Catholic Homily: January 4, 2026 04.01.2026 6:45
It’s easy to look at the world and see darkness in the headlines - war, poverty, and division. But what about the darkness that lives closer to home? The struggles of self-will, the feeling of being "cut off" from God, or the heavy fear of mortality. This Feast of the Epiphany, we reflect on how the Magi’s gifts aren't just historical tributes, but solutions for our modern-day shadow...
St. Paul VI Parish Mass: December 28, 2025 28.12.2025 15:44
Today is December 28, 2025, the celebration of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Our celebrants were Fr. Chris Tiano and Deacon Dominic Corraro. The Holy Family wasn’t “perfect” because life was easy - they were perfect because they listened to God and said yes, even in the middle of hardship. Today’s homily reminds us that whether your family feels like a classic sitcom or is beautifull...
St. Paul VI Parish Mass: December 21, 2025 25.12.2025 15:12
Today is December 21, 2025 - the 4th Sunday of Advent. Our celebrant was Fr. Christopher Tiano. We often think of Saint Joseph as a silent figure in the background of the Christmas story. But his "yes" was just as pivotal as Mary’s. St. Thomas Aquinas suggested that Joseph didn't want to leave Mary out of doubt, but out of humility. He felt unworthy of the massive task God set before...
St. Paul VI Parish Mass: December 14, 2025 14.12.2025 10:42
Today is December 14, 2025 - the 3rd Sunday of Advent. Our celebrants were Fr. Lee Hellwig and Deacon Joseph Ryzewski. John the Baptist's story shows us that doubt and disappointment are part of the journey. From his prison cell, the prophet who once proclaimed with fire now wonders, “Is Jesus really the one?” Jesus' response? "Happy are the ones who did not lose faith in me." Th...

Today is November 30, 2025, the 1st Sunday of Advent. Our celebrants were Fr. Lee Hellwig and Deacon Ronald Gurr. Today we begin a new liturgical year and the short but meaningful season of Advent. Advent is more than just a countdown to Christmas; it is a journey toward the light. In the midst of a darkening world, we light the first candle and remember that the Lord is not hiding from us. He is...
St. Paul VI Parish Mass: November 16, 2025 16.11.2025 16:09
Today is November 16, 2025, the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. Our celebrants were Fr. Chris Tiano and Deacon Joseph Ryzewski. The Temple shaped the faith of Israel. It was a place of sacrifice, gathering, and God’s presence. In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus steps into that story and fulfills it. Today, He is our gathering place. He is our sacrifice. He is with us. As we reflect on the "end times” read...

Today is November 2, 2025, the Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. Our celebrants were Fr. Chris Tiano and Deacon Ronald Gurr. In his All Souls Day homily, Father shares a poignant childhood memory of losing a beloved “Grandma Mongillo,” reminding us that even though loss is never easy and we’ll always miss those we love, our faith offers a profound promise: death is not the end. Scripture...
