"Only use this method" strikes again. Many roads lead to the same place and that doesn't make it wrong. As a stylist and a client, it is important to ask questions. If you don't, as a client you'll just pay now and cry later. and a stylist will cry now and pay later.

Sometimes, hair horror stories start with people experimenting with their hair and others start with an ulta and regis salon. We talk about how we've effed up our hair and how others got effed and we have restored them back to hair glory.

In the world of content creation, we struggle with what's important as a small business and independent stylist. Is it presentation, production or popularity that's winning in the industry.

Good help is hard to find. We discuss both sides of the coin on expectations as a stylist utilizing an assistant and assistants goal setting in a salon environment.

Have you ever wondered what happened to a client that you haven’t seen for a while, especially one who’s hair you’ve done for a long time, only to find out you’ve been blocked and baffled, yeah us too. 

We talk about continuation of care through communicating with a client and how reaching a clear understanding can sometimes be simple, confusing, difficult or all of the above and some in between.  

Our worst nightmare has become a reality, losing a client, because they think we were talking about them lol. We give a friendly reminder that hair mafia is about a collective experience as a stylist and that our stories told are only proof our clients are more alike than different. 

We talk about the importance of really practicing your craft and learning techniques is an ongoing process. We also talk of how the industry can be manipulative in marketing their extension technique as the best, when really it’s about your progress, foundation, and integrity.

It’s interesting being a stylist with and trying to have boundaries, because it just turns into Jerry Springer (RIP). Just know you’re worth our full attention, so when you ask or something we don’t have on our schedule, you’re prob gonna get crumbs jk, lol. 

Its a topic that comes up often, booth rent or commission. It really about knowing yourself, because we are all different. Like at this point, just make sure you can do hair, no matter where you are lol.

Communications is key, but sometimes it goes south. We talk about the struggles of setting boundaries as a hairstylist and how clients make their emergency our priority, as they communicate how they must be squeezed in or they’ll die and won’t take no for an answer. We bout to send them invoices for our phone bill since ya wanna blow us up.
