Holed Up 26.07.2025

That time when you can't face the daily grind. I had an attempt at some harmonies in here and some very self indulgent (but undoubtedly awful) harmonica playing. I'm really selling this one. Support the show

Ceasefire - How about a real one ? 25.07.2025

This is a re-mix of a tune from May 2024 - when there was a bit of a prospect of a ceasefire in both the Gaza and Ukraine conflicts. But no - as Trumpy would say it was all "bull----". How about a real ceasefire in both Gaza and Ukraine - please? Support the show

Reel 'em in 24.07.2025

Mr Putin can, I would imagine, be very charming and say many many things that in reality he has no intention of ever doing. Like stopping the war in Ukraine. Support the show

Harmonics 23.07.2025

A guitar and double bass duo built around a sequence of natural harmonics on the guitar. Support the show

No all out war ever solved anything before 22.07.2025

A very cheap rhyme - but it sums up where Ukraine & Gaza seem to be heading. Support the show

A Foot in the Door 21.07.2025

This is a re-mix from last year of a tune called " A Step Inside" - I had some balance problems. Now slightly improved. Support the show

Force of Nature 20.07.2025

A re-mix of a tune called  No Doubts No worries - a force of nature. Go Matt - on the half marathon trail today - all that training comes to the fore on days like today. Support the show

Two Way Mirror 19.07.2025

If there is ever a thing designed to unnerve you this is it. As you look at it and realise (if you do) what it is, your behaviour about looking in a mirror completely changes. Support the show

Watch that flight 18.07.2025

Bit of an ambiguous title for the song - its about opportunities or chances - taken, missed, never realised - confused with the sporting equivalent - there's too much tennis about... or cricket ... or football  Support the show

The storm has passed 17.07.2025

That feeling of relief - when these fierce storms move away is matched or perhaps countered by the grief of so much loss of life - particularly the young children. Terrifying. Support the show

Gonna Beg Steal or Borrow 16.07.2025

This one is about never giving up - on ANYTHING ! Support the show

Festival Junkie 15.07.2025

Music/ Arts/ History/ Beer / Gin ... its festival season in the UK . I remember it well .. I think its much more civilised now than the piles of rubbish, mud and other stuff that used to litter the fields....is it ? Support the show

Slip, Slop, Slap 14.07.2025

This is not meant to be a  public health announcement - it just sounds like one. Back in the 1980's The Slip, Slop, Slap slogan became institutionalised as the core message of Cancer Council's SunSmart program in Australia and New Zealand. The campaign is widely credited as playing a key role in the dramatic shift in sun protection attitudes and behaviour over the past two decades. In 20...

The Brush off 13.07.2025

That curt or dismissive reply you get when someone really doesn't want to engage or talk to you - lovely ? Support the show

Whistle while you work 12.07.2025

I have, apparently, an annoying habit of whistling when something goes wrong and I'm trying to make light of the disaster I've just caused..I didn't realise. More significantly   " Whistle While You Work " is a song with music written by Frank Churchill and lyrics written by Larry Morey for the 1937 animated Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs . It was performed in...

Distant Memories 11.07.2025

We were talking about how the elderly seem to have this amazing ability to remember things from 70 to 80 years ago as if they've only just happened - not at all as just distant memories. Support the show

I never meant to stay this long 10.07.2025

Thisis a re-mix of a song from 2024. Some of the levels on the backing tracks were done in a hurry. This is another John Martyn influenced track - I was listening to his late recordings in particular. I saw him when he was on a come back tour after some pretty dramatic surgery - about a year before he died. He was more reliant on his band - but still lit up the place with some great playing and si...

Take as long as you need 09.07.2025

I was trying to think of the opposite of " can work to pressing deadlines" and "can work under pressure" in job adverts... this is it - imagine seeing that in a job description - go for it . Support the show

In the drivers seat.. 08.07.2025

One of those rare moments when you feel you know what you're doing - there's always that danger of feeling a little bit over confident and then .... the wheels come off ( metaphorically speaking) Support the show

Play the Part 07.07.2025

On occasions and in certain situations you suddenly realise that you are expected to play a certain role and react in a certain way - play the part. Support the show

Names will never... 06.07.2025

Sticks and Stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me... Or so the saying goes. I'm not so sure. Support the show

Sunny Side Up 05.07.2025

A reference to how you like your fried eggs cooked - sunny side up with the yellow yolks runny and not " over easy " - not flipped . The tune uses a short extract of a Bryan Lester guitar piece " Sun Song" - at the start and has an upbeat summer feel to it. Support the show

White Noise Raining down on me 04.07.2025

This is a re-mix of a tune from last year. I was driving north along the Welsh coast in really bleak wet weather listening to too much John Martyn - his late stuff is a little sad. Support the show

The Home Range 03.07.2025

This tune goes back to the time we spent in the north of Spain - Asturias. There was a beautiful barn owl that lived in the disused part of the house. A creature of habit it would be out hunting in the early hours returning to is roost just before dawn. Amazing sights and sounds as it scratched about, hissed when you got too close and hooted when it was out and about. Support the show

Cool in the shade ? 02.07.2025

In England we NEVER stop talking about the weather.. Really its because we don't have a clue what its doing from one day to the next.  We've got yellow and amber heat wave warnings, the environment guy on the TV is telling us ways to keep cool - take a cold shower, wash your hands in cold water, hang a wet sheet up at the windows - amazing ? 34 degrees C today and then ...... thats it fo...
