Where there's a will 20.08.2025 3:45
One I enjoyed recording during the summer of 2024 - Didn't get a great reception - but who's counting ? Support the show
The Lights of the big, big city 19.08.2025 5:09
This was first recorded in July 2024 - and went down like a lead balloon . Nevermind lets try it again .. Support the show
The Edge of a Precipice 18.08.2025 3:26
Todays tune was put together as Trump & Putin go to meet in Alaska. The Edge of a Precipice - I don't think so; a bit of back slapping, bull---- and kicking the can down the road. We'll see. Support the show
Tsunami Cortege 17.08.2025 4:11
On the day I recorded this a very severe earthquake had taken place in Russia and there was a funeral procession for Ozzy Osbourne - two very sad events. yet neither event was as bad or sad as we thought. Ozzy Osbourne's cortege was of course sad - but in fact it turned out to be a massive outpouring from the people of Birmingham for the local lad made good - a very affectionate tribute. Simi...
5 o'clock shadow 16.08.2025 5:34
Not the designer stubble - I've never had that (much as I would have liked the macho side of "the look"). This concludes the weather bit - I increasingly miss the long Spring/Summer days as the days gradually shorten and take us into Autumn. I love the routine of it - up when its light- finish at a decent time when fatigue takes over and you feel you're done for the day. It see...
A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER - Day in the Sun 15.08.2025 3:26
The last piece in the series A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER - Day in the Sun. Everybody should have one ! But maybe not too many and not too intense. Support the show
A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER. Wind of Change 14.08.2025 2:58
Piece No.4 in the series is another instrumental - Wind of Change - a re-mix. The original thought behind this was a political one - but it applies equally well to the weather. An easy listening generally optimistic piece with the Latin percussion entering in the second section to support the optimism.. Support the show
A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER - A break in the weather 13.08.2025 2:38
Piece No's 3, 4 & 5 are instrumental. When we've had these intense weather spells - hot, cold, wet or drought - the feeling I have is " just give us a break " from this..Hence piece no.3 A Break in the Weather. Support the show
A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER - After the Storm 12.08.2025 4:17
The second piece in the A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER group of tunes is After the Storm. Its been re-used quite recently but fits in to the context of the sequence of tunes quite nicely. It is amazing how resilient people affected by disasters can be; from the Valencia floods to those in Kerr County, Texas. How they ever get over the loss of life is beyond me - but it says something very positive about...
A CHANGE IN THE WEATHER - St Swithins Day .. and the rain came down 11.08.2025 5:14
As I have mentioned a number of times on the podcast we in the UK are obsessed by the weather. I realise looking back at various pieces I've put up - I am obsessed by the weather. Music associates rain, cloudy skies, cold weather with sad or bad things; sunny skies, clear sky, spring time with good or happy things. There are some exceptions - Singing in the rain is one of the happiest tunes...
No particular purpose 10.08.2025 2:46
From November 2023, this piece was written with no particular purpose in mind - but rather just to try out some new combinations of instruments. Doesn't sound very exciting does it ? You're probably right. Support the show
Climbing on the shoulders of giants 09.08.2025 5:03
With Oasis touring I re-mixed a song from June 2023 which refers to their album ( or at least I thought it did ) I got it wrong - the quote is Standing on the Shoulder of Giants - the fourth studio album by Oasis . The title was actually a misquote by Noel Gallagher after seeing the quote on the British two pound coin while in a pub. The British two pound coin bears the inscription STANDING ON T...
Vicarious Life 08.08.2025 4:40
AI / Ransom ware/ online stalking its all in here- in a very confused way because the whole thing is very confusing. Built off the idea that the celebrity culture means so many of us live our lives vicariously through the celebrities we admire. Support the show
Just Chill 07.08.2025 4:14
If you're on holiday - enjoy the break - take your foot off the gas and just chill. A tune called Foot off the Gas from May 2024 re-worked - no acoustic guitar - bass only. Support the show
Buccaneer 06.08.2025 3:13
The track Highwaymen was recorded in the summer of last year - this is a re-mix .` We were having a light hearted conversation about the old days - and the Waddington game Buccaneer came up. Support the show
Black Dog - Can't seem to shake it off 05.08.2025 3:51
I thought getting the black dog is getting down for a period of time ( not depression - certainly not as serious as that) However, its used by some mental health groups in a metaphorical sort of way - The term describes a state of depression characterized by sadness or lack of will, including the loss of desire to partake in activities you once loved. This metaphor can be helpful for adults and c...
You won't catch me that way.. 04.08.2025 3:47
At slack times in work at home office type jobs one of the latest tricks to catch employees out is to do an unannounced video call - sad so-and so's. Support the show
Hide & Seek - re-mix 03.08.2025 4:09
Hide & Seek dates from 2023. This re-mix tries to reduce the emphasis on the synth side of the backing track and uses an extra vocal track I didn't realise I'd recorded. Support the show
Make you up as I go along 02.08.2025 6:03
I try to avoid AI technology. I hope I can keep clear of it. However, it seems every time you Google search something there's AI in there somewhere and the music world is - for sure - using it. Deepfakes I had very little clue about but they are videos, picture or audio clips, made with artificial intelligence to look real. They can be used for fun, or even for scientific research, but somet...
Don't worry 'bout the welfare 01.08.2025 4:22
The dog trade in the UK really had a boost during covid - and has resulted in some real rogues out there - online deals everywhere. Breeders (are they?) offering to deliver in their vans, meet you on a motorway service stations, 2 for 1 deals - its all going on .. Support the show
Take a little from here, take a little from there 31.07.2025 3:45
So much of what I write is derived from other sources - this track is a real case in point . Support the show
Last chance Chuck E 30.07.2025 3:48
Rickie Lee Jones produced some great songs: Chuck E's in Love, Last Chance Texaco, The Years May Go By are just 3. This instrumental uses a little of the The Years May Go By.. continuing on with yesterdays idea of time flying by..Memories of lazy days in Brittany go with this piece. Support the show
Too little time, no time at all 29.07.2025 4:09
I'm going along to the fortieth wedding anniversary of a couple I knew in Exeter in the next week or so. When you are young time seems to go so very slowly - then suddenly forty years have gone. Support the show
Chasing his tail 28.07.2025 1:55
We've got a 3 month old collie cross kelpie and huntaway - definitely a sheep dog. Loves chasing anything - and if its not you - his tail will do. Support the show
The Old Man & the Con Man 27.07.2025 4:21
This went up a year ago as the US election approached. There are some very rough edges on Trumpy but he is trying to do stuff - it just seems erratic, inconsistent and sometimes completely naive. However, I'm not so sure sleepy Joe or Kamala Harris would have achieved much more... The sentiments are still the same and if Trumpy and his crew stopped trying to manipulate the media quite so much...
