Gospel Light : Lighting the Way of Salvation

 A reflection on Isaiah 22:12–14, where people, instead of mourning over sin, live for pleasure with the mindset that life is short, leading to the terrifying reality that they will have no atonement and face judgment. 

The delusion of salvation by works 

 The article emphasizes that human efforts alone cannot achieve salvation, highlighting the need for Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and righteousness to redeem one's sins. 

We are eternally indebted to God for our sins, and only through faith in Jesus Christ, who made an infinite sacrifice, can we be redeemed and have our debt forgiven. 

The Day of Atonement teaches that salvation is solely through the sacrifice of Christ, with no human works added, emphasizing rest in His completed work. 

 Cornelius, a devout and pious man, discovered that true salvation could only be found by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ, rather than through his own acts of piety. 

 Like Zoar spared through Lot, each of us can find refuge from judgment in the righteousness of Christ when we trust in Him for salvation.
