We were reminded of what success in the eyes of the Lord is, and reflected on what compromise looks like. The gospel is what enables us to live without compromise, in obedience to God. The grace of the gospel allows us to freely pursue obedience joyfully.

Nick Gonyea preached God’s word from 1 John 2:28 - 3:10, reminding us what it means to be a child of God. We live righteously, we resist sin and we repent when we sin, and we can only do all this through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. His death has given us the freedom and a new nature to hate sin, and pursue righteousness.

Massimo Gei, one of the elders, preached from Matthew 5:13-16. How do we know we are salt and light that makes a difference? To the degree people can taste and see the difference in us. We are to be distinctly different and visibly displayed to reflect God’s goodness, hope and joy.

He is our advocate who strengthens us in our fight against sin, to help us obey God and to love one another. To the measure we trust in the gospel message, to that measure we will obey God and love one another like how Jesus love us.
