This is a song of praise written by Moses after God delivered Israel by drowning the Egyptian army in the sea. The first half of the song (1-12) tells what God has done for Israel in the past. The second part (13-21) tells what God will do in the future!

“Trusting God fully means following His Exodus plan, even through risky detours, in contrast to simply living the comfortable life we like to create for ourselves.”

In the Exodus God reveals his unmatchable power, his faithfulness to fulfilling his promises, and his establishment of his presence with his redeemed people. As we look at the Exodus we recognize how God has revealed himself then and how it points to our same redemption through the power, promises, and presence of Jesus Christ.

God's people are marked, and God's salvation is remembered by ceremony. Both are meant to remind us of the great work of God and who He has called us to be, a sojourner people. As the people of Israel are finally delivered from the house of slavery, they are given two ceremonies to remember the events that brought about their birth.

Faith from faithless to fearless! Vs. 1 Remember full redemption is for all generations. Vss. 2-3 Expectation in freedom. Vss. 2-3 Experience provisions daily from the true living God. Vss. 4-20 Deliverance from darkness to light. Vss. 21-26 Obedience that is uncompromising to the world. Vss. 27-28 Meekness – is characterized by gently submitting to God’s will. Vs. 29

Is there a point to the ten plagues? Absolutely. The plagues point to God. Each one is a powerful demonstration of who God is. The resounding message of all the plagues is this: there is no one like the Lord our God. In particular, the fifth, sixth and seventh plagues point to three ways in which there is no one like the Lord our God.

But Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey his voice and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord, and moreover, I will not let Israel go.” Exodus 5:2

The ultimate purpose of God’s actions in the Exodus was to bring Pharaoh and the Egyptians to their knees so they would let the Hebrews leave. But, at the same time, the Lord was revealing himself to both Israel and the Egyptians and proving that He alone was God and in control of all things.

God is almighty, completely reliable, and can be known experientially by those who invest the time and effort to seek Him.

When things go from bad to worse, Moses will learn the difficult lesson of waiting on God. Like Moses, each of us can relate to the struggle when things is life don't turn out as we would have hoped or planned. Like Moses, we face this struggle by learning the art of waiting on God.
