For the past several messages, Pastor Darrell has helped us to see that Jesus is the Son of God who has great power and authority. In our passage today, Jesus gives power and authority to His apostles inviting them to join Him in the proclamation and expansion of the Kingdom of God.

Because Jesus is the Son of God, He has great power and authority. The proper response to this is to turn to Him in times of desperation just as we see others do in this passage.

Embracing and walking with Jesus leads us toward freedom. Jesus frees us from what torments us. What has Jesus freed you from? Give testimony to His mighty deeds in your life and in the world!

In Luke 8:22-25 we see the realities of who Jesus is. He's the God who occasionally may lead us into a storm, who is with us in the storm (even when it doesn't seem like it), who is in control of the storm, who intends to build your faith and trust while you're in the storm, and who is able to deliver you from the storm. Be encouraged to exercise your faith in the storms of life.

In Luke 8:16-21 we are encouraged to remember that the light given to us should impact the world around us. In order to offer that, we must have a close, familial relationship with the Lord. This hinges on hearing and responding to what He tells us in His Word.

In Luke 8:4-15 the parable of the four soils is explained. In this explanation, there is also a call to apply ourselves to holding fast to the Word of God and to actively cooperate with the Lord in resisting sin and Satan.

In Luke 8:1-3 we see Jesus' respect for women and their devotion to Him. Be encouraged to devote yourself fully to the one fully devoted to you.

In Luke 7:36-50, we see a woman who worshiped Jesus publically, intimately, shamelessly, and extravagantly. She shows us a proper response to Him and we are challenged to ask ourselves whether or not we are giving Jesus the worship He deserves.

As we look at the account in Luke 7:18-35 of John the Baptist sending disciples to ask about Jesus' identity, we are reminded of God's grace for those who doubt or ask questions. We can be confident that when we go to Jesus and His Word with our questions, He will show Himself to us.

Bob Higby preached on Isaiah 52 and "The Coming of the Kingdom of Grace in the Gospel." Be encouraged by the realities of all God has done, is doing, and will do in His Kingdom of grace and glory.

As we look at Psalm 145, we can remember that since God is good to the generations, it's good for the generations to give Him praise.

Jesus is the Bread of Life, Lord over nature, the light of the world, victor over sin and Satan, and the resurrection and the life. This is what we learned about Jesus at Vacation Bible School last week as we looked closely at some of His miracles. Be encouraged to entrust yourself fully to Him.

In Luke 6:39-45 we see that our choice of teachers is important. The student, when fully trained, will be like his or her teacher. We will produce similar fruit to what our teacher produces. Be encouraged to fix your heart on Jesus, abide in Him, and avail yourself of all of His teachings, being fully trained by Him.

This sermon is focused on Jesus's command in Luke 6:37-42 to not judge others. It's here and in other passages that we can see that Jesus desires for us to not judge like the hypocritical Pharisees. We are called to recognize our own law-breaking in order to rightly confront others in a spirit of humility, and gentleness, and with the right motivation to restore.

In Luke 6:27-36 we see Christ's radical callings for His kingdom representatives. We can have great hope as we seek to live out this calling because it is part of our identity as ones who’ve been redeemed by God and we are enabled by the Holy Spirit to do all that we are called to do.

Jesus says in Luke 6:22-23 that we are blessed when we are hated on account of Him. He even says we should rejoice because our reward is great in heaven. This can be a hard word to grasp, but God's Word encourages us to open our hearts to how we can practically live out this call to rejoice when hated. We can look to Jesus's example and remember the truths of our realities as God's ado...

In Acts 2:1-47 we learn that the day of Pentecost was a specific event in redemptive history that was Christ-focused, declaring the coronation of Jesus as King that also opened new access into the presence of God and fresh empowerment for the people of God. As we continue to look at the beatitudes in Luke 6:21, 25, we are reminded that our God is greater than all the reasons for our sorrow. He will redeem all. He is the God of redemption and He works all things for good.

In Luke 6:17-24, we see that those who have chosen to follow Jesus over material wealth will be blessed. If Jesus became poor so that we might become rich, how much more then, should we choose the Kingdom of God over the things of this world?

As we look at the lives of the twelve apostles mentioned in Luke 6:12-16, we are reminded of God's faithfulness to us. Jesus has fully given of Himself to us, are we giving ourselves fully to Him?

In Luke 6:12-16, we see the record of when Jesus chose His twelve apostles. It's good to consider the lives and ministries of the apostles since we are told in God's Word that our faith, "...is built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets..." (Ephesians 2:20). Be encouraged in your own calling and commission by Christ to go and be His representatives.

God's Word in Luke 6:1-11 calls us to recognize Jesus as Lord and to orient our hearts toward Him and His heart of compassion.

In Mark 5:12-16, we see that Jesus gives hope to the hopeless. We can confidently ask Him for healing and deliverance because He is willing and able to bring wholeness to our lives. When we respond in trust no matter what His way or timing is, God is glorified.

As we look at Matthew 28:1-10 we can see that Jesus' resurrection is not a matter of blind faith, but a verifiable truth. The Lord is risen! He is risen indeed!
