God's Truth, God's Grace - New Port Presbyterian Church

On the road to glory, Jesus intentionally presents himself as The Messiah-King. As the people praise Him, He accepts their worship and proclaims that even the stones would cry out if the people were silent. As we look at Luke 19:28-40, we are reminded that it is appropriate to praise and worship Jesus our King.

As we look at Matthew 21:12-16, we see Jesus brought disruption, cleansing, and restoration of proper functioning in the temple. He does the same for us. Where might we need Him to do that in our lives? 

As we look at Luke 7:36-50, we see that Jesus' Road to Glory passes through adoration. When we understand Jesus' radical graciousness and acceptance of sinners, we will be moved toward adoration of Him. Some may turn toward skepticism wondering how Jesus could love sinners. Some may turn toward self-righteousness as they are blind to their own sin. Be encouraged this week to assess how you see you...

Jesus shows that, with Him, the unexpected can become the expected. By bringing Lazarus back from the dead, He gave a foretaste of His ability to give new life where there once was death. When the people saw Jesus' miracle, they either rejected Him or put their trust in Him. Pastor Darrell encouraged us today to consider passages where we see Jesus moved by His compassion. Jesus doesn't sit by, unmoved when He sees His people in trouble. He is moved to action and does that which we can't do ourselves. He calls on His people who have experienced His compassion to, likewise, show compassion to others. To whom - and how - might we show compassion this week?

Pastor Darrell encouraged us today to remember to not only solemnly consider the Lord's death, but to also rejoice and celebrate all of the Lord's work on our behalf in the time leading up to Easter. As we look at John 17:20-26, we see what was most on the mind of Jesus as he gathered with his friends for the last time before his death and resurrection.
