Find a fossil, rock painting and a volcano activity at the Friendly Bay Fun Day in Oamaru recently. Children collected marine fossils from limestone that was 25 million years old.  They painted rounded greywacke cobbles that were originally sands off Gondwana around 200 million years ago - before dinosaurs became extinct!

Last week our Geoeducator attended the New Zealand Geographic conference in Christchurch.  While there, they participated in a pre-conference tour of the Banks Peninsula Geopark.

We have now installed interpretation signage on the back of three of our recently installed bench seats.  These are at Hutchenson's Quarry in Oamaru, All Day Bay, and Kakanui.

Our October public talk will take place in Duntroon on Thursday 20th October 6 - 7pm.  Come along and learn about Maori Rock Art within the geopark.  

We are installing new bench seats at four of our geosites - Hutchisons Quarry, All Day Bay, Campbells Bay and the Kakanui River.  Interpretation signage for these geosites will be installed on the back of these bench seats at a later date.  This project has been funded by the Otago Community Trust.
