NOT YOUR TREASURE TO BURY: YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO CHRIST The relationship a Christian has to Jesus is a treasure worth more than anything else. That priceless relationship is often buried and hidden. That relationship is defined as living fully connected to Jesus, causing growth in us.

NOT YOUR TREASURE TO BURY: TIME God has given everyone the same amount of hours in their day. As followers of Jesus we see time as something that has a purpose to it. We should make time to glorify God, and to enjoy what He has created

NOT YOUR TREASURE TO BURY: OUR WITNESS TO THE WORLD God’s Elect (those who God has redeemed in Christ) live a world that is not our own. We need to be obedient people who know that the world is watching us. Our obedience to God is our loudest witness to a world in need of Christ.

NOT YOUR TREASURE TO BURY: DISCIPLESHIP Making disciples (teaching others about Jesus), and being a disciple (a student of Jesus), is embedded in the “Great Commission.” The expectation is that every Christian will live that out. The lack of discipleship today is why the church is lacking in so many ways.

NOT YOUR GOSPEL TO BURY - Luke 15 The final words of Jesus in the Gospels and Acts emphasize sending us into the world as messengers to proclaim the gospel (Mark), make disciples (Matthew), baptize (Matthew & Mark), and that the Holy Spirit empowers us for this gospel work (Luke, John, & Acts). The gospel is to be shared, not buried.

NOT YOUR TREASURE TO BURY: TALENTS Every Christian has gifts, abilities, or talents, that are from God. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are to be a part of one local church body where those “gifts” are used in mutuality to one another, and together for the Kingdom.

NOT YOUR TREASURE TO BURY: COMMUNITY - Acts 2:36-47 Jesus commands us to love one another. We are to bind ourselves together in community in the local church for the “one anothers” in Scripture. It is impossible to be a faithful Christian apart from being in community.

Not your treasure to bury 2 Corinthians 9: MONEY The Bible speaks more about money than any other resource God gives us. Money reveals more about gospel, faith, idolatry, obedience, and heart, than anything else. As challenging as this subject may be, tithing to the church is a gospel discipleship issue. OFFERING YOUR LIFE We can practice offering our life by following 5 points. This will be a time of self-reflection where we will be able to look back on our past experiences, present desires, and current opportunities. What might you be able to discern about God’s will for your life?

Our focus as we end his year will determine how we begin the next year. A right place, as followers of Jesus, for us to focus is on our prayer life.

THE MESSAGE OF CHRISTMAS The birth of Christ is about healing for a broken world. When everything around us is wrong, the message of Jesus reminds us that hope and joy are not found in gifts or meals, but in Christ’s eternal peace.

Episode Notes Our God Save Isaiah 51

THE ETERNAL PLAN OF REDEMPTION Today we get a rare look at a conversation between God and His Son Jesus before Jesus is born. The focus is on Christ’s purpose of redemption. This passage is a great way see the Christmas Story in a new way.

GOD PREPARES THE WAY God used Isaiah to prepare Israel for their deliverance from Babylon. God used John the Baptist to prepare Israel for Jesus. God uses Scripture to prepare us for Christ to work in us this Christmas.

GOD WILL COME AND SAVE US Today we see God deliver Israel from Babylon, but we find out that it was really about something much larger. God promises a Savior to come, a Deliverer much greater than any other, who comes to rescue us for eternity.

Stand Sunday

Let us learn from the mistakes of our brother and sisters of old, and seek to glorify God in all we do.

THE SERVANT OF THE LORD Isaiah 42 proclaims Christ hundreds of years in advance, telling of God’s Servant establishing God’s Kingdom, calling people to repent of idolatry and worship God alone. COMFORT GOD’S PEOPLE [700-600-500] Isaiah 40 takes us 200 years forward in time to the end of the Babylonian captivity. God offers comfort to a new generation who is willing to be obedient. Will we be an obedient generation or not?

In moments of personal pain and tempting pleasure it can be easy to doubt God’s goodness and to forget our allegiance to Him. We must remember it is Jesus faithfulness to us and not our faithfulness to him that is the guarantee of our salvation.

THE FINAL BATTLE Christians face many battles against culture, sin, and self, as well as against a spiritual enemy in Satan. Isaiah provides an account of a great battle so we can learn to face challenges with unwavering faith in God.

5th Sunday Corporate Communion

Isaiah 34-35 The are really only two kinds of people in this world, those whose final outcome will be to incur the eternal judgment of God and those whose final outcome will be to enjoy the eternal peace of salvation with God. For more information, please visit https://genfamily.church.

WHAT IS OUR ETERNAL HOPE? When all around us we see corruption and division in our world, Isaiah 33 provides a view of what God does when people and/or nations repent and return to Jesus. Hope, healing, and redemption, are attributes of Christ’s Kingdom beginning here on earth and completed in eternity.

TRUST IN GOD–NOT IN MAN We all struggle to trust in God and not in human ability. God promises faithfulness and blessing to those (individually and nationally) who trust in Him alone.
