Fr. Kubicki 2 Minute Prayer Reflections

Today is the feast day of Saint Simon and Saint Jude. Father talks about only Cathedral in the United States named after these two saints. While there is not much known about these saints, father shares insights on Jude’s question in the gospel.

On the day after the anniversary of his mother’s birthday, Father reflects on a trait which he inherited from his mother. Father shares his struggles with worry, and how if we overcome our struggles, we can help bring peace to our family members who have passed on.

In the readings today Paul tells slaves to obey their masters. Father reflects on what this verse means for us today. As we go through our daily lives if we offer our work to the Lord, it can become a prayer to God.

As trees lose their leaves in the fall and death seems to be in the very fabric of nature itself, the Church takes time to reflect on death while at the same time understanding that death is not the end. Father reads some words from Saint Clement about how nature reflects our resurrection.

Today is the feast of Saint Anthony Mary Claret, born in Spain in 1807. Because of his health problems he was unable to join the Carthusian order. Eventually he became a diocesan priest and was sent to Cuba where his health improved, and he was able to serve in powerful ways.

Today father talks about the virtue of humility. Humility is very important because without humility the other virtues can be turned into pride without humility present. The readings today about the Pharisee and the Tax Collector at the temple show a stark contrast of the difference in humility when praying. 

Today is the feast of Saint John Paul II. Father reads some powerful words from the end of Saint John Paul II’s 2005 book title “Memory and Identity” about the evil in the 20th century and how God can use suffering and transform it from within.  

Today’s reading from the Gospel of Luke is about Jesus telling people to read the signs of the times just how they read the signs of the weather. Father encourages us to prayerfully read the bible in order to help us be able to read the signs of the times in today’s world.

Today is the Feast of Saint Paul of the Cross, a man who founded an order called the Passionists because of his deep devotion to the Passion of Jesus. Father reads some words from Saint Paul on how to keep a peaceful heart.

Today is the feast of several Jesuit missionaries who came from France to bring the Gospel to the people of the Americas. They were eventually martyred in the place the went to evangelize. Let us love and serve others around us even through the tough times.

Today is the feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist. Saint Luke was a doctor and patron of Physicians. Luke includes a lot of great stories in his Gospel. He Particularly highlights women in his writings focusing in on Mary as having an important role. 

Today is the feast of Ignatius of Antioch, a Bishop, who wrote several letters while being taken as a prisoner in Rome. Just as Saint Ignatius offered himself as wheat for God to the wild animals. we are also called to offer ourselves to others for God’s glory.

Today’s Gospel is about the necessity to pray always without stopping. The readings tell the story of the widow who was persistent with the dishonest Judge in asking for a fair judgement which eventually led him to grant her request. Let us be like the Widow and persistently pray to God. 

Saint Therese the Little Flower joined the Apostleship of Prayer today, in the year AD 1885. Saint Therese kept the eucharist at the center of her life throughout her journey to grow in holiness. Father reads some powerful words from the Little Flower about the Blessed Sacrament. 

Today is the feast day of Saint Pope Callistus I, a martyr of the Church. Father encourages us to remain strong in the faith even in the face of persecution in our modern society and reads some heartening words from Saint Cyprian on Perseverance through persecution. 

Today is the feast of the miracle of the sun. Father Shares the story of Our Lady of Fatima providing a miracle of the sun dancing in the sky to the surprise of many witnesses. Our Lady requested that that all people pray the rosary for the conversion of sinners. 

Father shares a letter written by Saint Pope Paul asking for peace during the Vietnam war. How much more important is it for us to pray for peace in our world today. The rosary is a very powerful prayer for us to use during this month of the most holy rosary. 

Today is the feast of Saint Pope John the 23rd. Even though usually saints are celebrated on the day of their death Saint Pope John was honored on the day he convened the Second Vatican Council on this day in 1962.

Today is the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Father talks about how to pray the rosary well by using some reflections from Pope Benedict on this matter. The rosary when prayed in an authentic way brings peace to the heart.

Today is the feast day of Saint Bruno of Cologne, who founded the order of Carthusians which as been known as one of the strictest orders. Father talks about the movie “Into Great Silence” and how it shows the important role of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to the Carthusians.

Today is the feast of Saint Faustina Kowalska, known as the Apostle of Devine Mercy. Since Jesus has only one heart, the Sacred Heart of Jesus is inseparable with the message of Devine Mercy which He ask Saint Faustina to share.

Today is the feast of Saint Francis Assisi. Father explains the stigmata which Saint Francis received as a sign of God’s love completely transforming him. We are all called to be transformed by God’s love even if we are not all called to receive the stigmata.
