Today is the feast of Saint Cecilia. Saint Cecilia is the patron saint of music. Father shares the story of how Saint Cecilia gave thanks and praise to God even when she was suffering and dying. We are called to praise God in all things because God brings good to those He loves.

Today is the Feast of Saint Albert the Great, a man who lived in the 1200s and was the teacher of Saint Thomas Aquinas. Father reads some insights from Saint Albert about the words of Jesus During the Last Supper.

Today’s reading is from Luke chapter 18, about the blind man who cried out for Jesus to have pity on him. Father shares some reflections on the question Jesus puts to the blind man before He healed him. God allows us to ask him for things so that we will grow in knowledge of ourselves and Him.

Today is the feast of Pope Saint Leo the Great, known for his document on the teaching of the dual natures of Jesus as God and Man in one person. Father reads some words from Pope Leo the Great asking the faithful to reflect God in their lives.

Today is the feast of Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity, a nun from the Carmelite order. Pope Francis Canonized her in the year 2016. Father reads a part of a prayer from Saint Elizabeth regarding the Trinity.

The Church dedicates the month of November to the holy souls who have died and all deceased people. Explaining why it is important to pray for the dead, father uses an analogy of purgatory being like a bright light which our eyes must adjust to in order to see the glory of God in heaven.

The readings at Mass today speak of some Sadducees who asked Jesus about the Resurrection of the dead. Jesus explains how heaven with our resurrected bodies will be very different than how we experience life now.  

On the first Saturday of November, like on all first Saturdays, we honor Our Lady. We also pray for the dead in the month of November. Father invites us to ask our mother in Heaven to pray for our loved ones who have passed away and all the deceased.

Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Charles Borromeo, a bishop and cardinal. Saint Charles was a proponent for reform in the Church and observed that change begins in the heart.  Father reads part of a from Saint Pious X regarding Saint Charles’ canonization. 

Today is the feast of Saint Martin De Porres, the son of a Spanish knight and a freed African slave. He became a Dominican Brother and used skills in medicine he learned as a youth to help the poor in Lima Peru. Father reads some reflections on Saint Martin from Saint Pope John the twenty-third.

Today we celebrate All Souls’ Day. On this day we remember those who have passed on while still holding on to sins that need to be purified. We are invited especially on this day to pray for our fallen away loved ones and to invoke the intercession of our heavenly mother.

Today we celebrate the of all the saints in heaven. Happy All Saints’ Day! Father reads some words from Pope Francis regarding canonizations of the saints. The saints are men and women with hearts open to hope as they let God’s love shine through them.

Today father shares his experience with Trick or Treating and how things have gotten much darker since his time as a youth. While some people now days refer to Halloween as “Devils Night” Father reminds us that Halloween is Christian holiday even though the Devil tries to twist it to evil.
